Probably because back then they had nothing else to do with their free time and now with tech people are smarter and would rather watch videos, research or keep up with what is trending than go out and kill people because they drew a line through a name....

“If you wish to destroy an area, how do you do it? Well there are two ways: you can go in there and bomb it and so forth, but that is not very efficient. What you do is you try to get the people in that area to kill each other and to destroy their own territory, their own farms, and that’s what’s been done in that area. So, the way in which you destroy an opponent, is get him to destroy himself, by dividing his ranks against one another.”

ANA Lizarraga killed: , 13 May 1992 (aged 49) , was a technical adviser and had a small part in the Latino gang film "American Me," was shot execution-style last Wednesday in her driveway on Lancaster Avenue. Two men with stockings over their heads apparently waited for her to step outside her house and then fired several times at her from less than 10 feet away. (Taken from the article in May 1992).

@@charlesderosas5577 They both have their strengths (and weaknesses). American Me is more impactful to me probably because of nostalgia, due to seeing it long before I saw “Blood In, Blood Out.” One certainty is that JD’s character was way superior than Miklo’s. I don’t know if that was script purposes, or because William Forsythe is straight up a boss. LoL.

@@charlesderosas5577 It’s been a while since I’ve watched it, but what I do remember is thinking that American Me resonated and held more weight with me after watching it. Like I said, it’s probably just bias mainly due to nostalgia. Do you have a specific example as to why “American Me” is inferior to “Blood In, Blood Out”? A lot of people say it’s because it’s too sentimental at times, and there’s cringe moments. Do you agree with that? (But I’ll argue that you could say the same about “BI, BO” in that regard as well.)
@charlesderosas55773 жыл бұрын
@@kennybeans6115 well I heard "B.I.B.O" was superior than American Me. American Me had a lot of flaws and criticisms that got people killed who were involved in the movie. And tbh watching it now recently it doesn't really hold up. But certain scenes and performances were good.

If its all you see its all you know. I remember leaving the hood to nice area for the first time and I thought I was at Disneyland but it was just over the hill in West Covina. We need to help these kids to see there is more to life, shit that there is a life that they can have.

This is a movie of its own . I love my raza I pray the violence will end and chicanos can live in peace because Now more than Ever we need to stick Together no matter what gang u claim we are only here for a short time and then we will be standing before God being judged . We Chicanos got so many different talents but our Pride is what makes us Foolish. #nothingbutLove ✊

First of all, Olmos did not properly ask the permission of the gang bosses to make this movie, and have characters that were based on real life. He actually lied about getting the OK. Then he got way in over his head with creative liberties. Rodolfo Cadena (the real-life Santana) was not really raped in Juvie. It was also not true that he ended up being murdered by his own crew. The hit was carried out by rival Nuestra Familia. It was true however that at the time his significance in La Eme was diminishing. At any rate, people got murdered because of these, and Olmos had contract for years

Bottom line is people create their own paths and choose to live a good life or a life of destruction! There is no easy way for the majority of us, you either make the choice to educate yourself and build a life, or choose to blame circumstance and what you don't or didn't have as an excuse for not doing the right things? Life is hard no matter how much you have or don't have and it's much more difficult to be part of the solution than it is being the problem? proving everyone wrong is one of the sweetest victories in life and sets an example for other family and friends...

So true, i used to think all this bullshit where so cool watching these movies admiring their life. No i find it sad man. Wadting their life trying to defend a street corner, shooting themself, ur own people. Pathetic and sad man. How can people become so stupid and idiots. The politicians probably laugh their ass of when this kids shoot themself.

@antonchigur429911 жыл бұрын
I think what a lot of these people, yourself included is that to say something like that is you're forgetting that you're not a minority. Mexico is a big country that takes many intellectual people to make up and be the strong nation it is. Don't limit yourself and act one way because the American media portrays you in such ways.
