You know. I'm 48 years old. I use Heroin since I was 14. Used Speedball consistenyly (means in massive quantities) for 4 years from 2002 to 2007. Now I use Heroin 4 times a day. I tried meth and had the wonderful idea of using it for 9 months when I had to face a couple of very tragic "losses" in my life. That 9 months of shitty meth did more harm to me, my health and my mind than 30 years of plain old heroin. Meth it's really the shittiest drug on the planet. No other explanations.

​@@randyleonard4126I actually came off with Suboxone and it was a lot easier to come off. For me personally methadone was just as addicting. It actually got me just as high if not higher. I never got high of Suboxone so it was way easier to wean off. Plus I'm not sure how it is where you are but here you have to go downtown every morning for your daily dose of methadone. Suboxone is very easy to get prescribed now. But if it works for you then Great! Continue on the right path.

If you know of any of his childhood friends who are successfully in recovery see if one or more of them will reach out to him and take him to NA meetings. With those of us in recovery part of the program is service to others. Inside nobody wants to be an addict and if someone reach's out and keeps reaching out to him maybe he will have a chance for a normal life again. many of us if not most of us it took many attempts before it worked and we got our life back.

Methamphetamine is not just all those things mixed together, but certain chemical components of them recombined to create a different chemical. The condition of that trailer and those little ones is just heartbreaking.

Holly's story shows that it is one big circle. The use causes issues for kids, and later when they are adults, it is a reference point, if it didn't come into play *AS* kids. Then they get all jacked up, have kids of their own, and the process repeats. The story leading up to it had me following closely... the "my grandmother understood everything I went thru", combined with the sudden tear show, sealed that one up tight. Good money bets all up and down the tree you find more or less all of the same exact activities that she described. The chemistry may vary somewhat, alcohol vs meth, etc but it will all be there somewhere and somehow. All of it. The drugs. The abuse. The shattered lives. *Really* good odds. Her kids and subsequently their kids have great odds to find themselves in the exact same predicaments. Thankfully there's an under mentioned force that tends to be in play within families, a "pendulum effect" that will make *some* escape the madness and find their way, leaving the family behind. This would be the "I'm not going to be like my parent(s)" thing we all experience. It tends to drive us all the way in one direction or the other within a given context. This usually alternates generations but can also happen "off to the side", as in the case of a single sibling vowing (and keeping) total sobriety in a family otherwise completely full of hard users, for example. This effect isn't limited to just families either, it is visible in countless places within the whole of society as oscillations in everything from fashion to politics. This makes for a noisy field when trying to separate the two from one another, as individually, *none* of us ever represent "the whole". As such, not only is determining exactly what brings any given scenario to be very difficult, this makes forecasting what will come of "now" all but impossible, save for some general concepts ("it ain't gonna be good for these kids, but the human species is robust and will continue on") 🤷‍♂️

Wow this is similar to my mom. She shot up once and had a heart attack. Some years later my grandma took her to mayo in Minnesota for heart surgery. My mom was so high they had to give her more than what it would take to kill a horse to make her go under. Yet she talked the entire time she had her chest wide open. My mom always has "friends" but she's the one who steals from them. She's almost 60 and wears oxygen. Yet chain smokes and does meth. She was genius level smart but threw her whole life away.

Sadly any drugs that can be crushed & dissolved in water is injectable. In my years of active addiction I injected many oral meds & street drugs. Including temazepam capsules (emptying the liquid in to a syringe barrel) or crushing ecstasy & adding water, filtering it & injecting it. Desperation is a hard task master.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s witnessing the anti heroin campaign on TV in the UK. I used heroin at the end of amphetamine binges sometimes for three days. The "use it once and your addicted" theory did not apply and I was able to stop with no cravings. Whilst everyone may have different susceptibilities to various addictive substances it is in my experience not applicable. Young people who experiment with heroin no doubt realise they have been misinformed about its addictiveness and continue to use.Addiction then follows. Unless we have honest communication regarding drugs; their different affects and potential dangers, young people will continue to suffer.

Incorrect, adderall is 4 different amphetamines in one pill. It use to have actual methamphetamine in it with amphetamine. However it was reformulated in early 2000 or late 90s before it got huge.

Amphetamine is made up of two stereoisomers, a "left-hand" isomer called levoamphetamine, and a "right-hand" isomer called dextroamphetamine. It's the exact same molecule, except the atoms are arranged in a perfect mirror formation, kind of like holding your hand up to a mirror - they're both your hand, but one shows the back of your hand and the other shows your palm. Since "amphetamine" contains both levo- and dextro- isomers, mixing it with dextroamphetamine just ensures that the mix of left/right isomer is more concentrated with the right isomer than the left isomer. Why? Because the right isomer is what is responsible for the classic "amphetamine" feeling of being amped, experiencing euphoria, and generally having a greater effect on the central nervous system. As for methamphetamine, meth has NEVER been an ingredient in Adderall. Simple math tells me that when 2 individuals who have NO business having children at all (can't adequately look after their own selves with food, housing, education, running water etc), mate carelessly and now result in 4 babies who will (9 times out of 10) grow up to be unstable adults. It could have been only 2 people who are screwed up and requiring lots of expensive help and resources.....but now it's 6 humans needing and needing and needing. And in 16-17 yrs, the kids will be spewing out unwanted, uncared for babies themselves, so now we have around 12-20 more to cope with. I would love to see a law where if you give birth and are found to be using meth, heroin or some such drug, you are automatically sterilized with a reversible procedure (husband/boyfriend too). Addicts can not care for children, they are way too busy committing suicide with their drug of choice. When and if they can get their lives together, they can reverse the sterilization . We must start acting like we believe children are valuable, instead of lip service.

Maybe but in my experience no dealer holds a gun to a persona head and forces them to take it. It's your own personal choice if you want it it's available if you don't want it they aren't hassling you to take it. 85 percent of dealers usually have a much larger habit than the customer's (hence why they are selling) and don't really pocket much money at all, but the wholesale distributors and cooks, these folks aren't great people.

Fucking awesome bro! 45 years old, been smoking it for 22 years, have no health issues (other than balding), have all of my real teeth, have a 22 year old son, and a 20 year old son. Both are normal and happy and were raised by me and the same woman I married 28 years ago, I go to work every day (only had 3 different jobs in those 28 years), haven't been in trouble since I was 19, and smoke almost every day! Just glad to see I'm not the only one who proves you can do whatever you want to do and still be a normal, functioning, productive member of society and not be a fucking junkie tweaker! Its worst today with the more addicting and harmful drugs from China/Mexico. Thankful that I myself never liked the drugs scene and for the most part, stayed away and today, no drinking, smoking or any drugs. Very Thank Full! The family in the film tore me up.😢

I am 62 years old, have been an addict for 23 years, since my daughter graduated high school and moved out. Opiates and meth. I had a stroke in Dec. I became an addict at 39 years old. Have been in jail more times than I can recall, been raped, have lost mostly everything. The stroke somehow was the last straw. I quit everything, cigarettes too!!! I lost my mom, brother, sister, best friend. I am so grateful I have my daughter and a couple of dear friends. I can walk again, though awkwardly. I just want to make up for all the time and money I threw away, somehow. Want to be forgiven. Want to help others and stop whipping myself with guilt. God help us all......
