"Put your keys in your knuckles like *I* have to..." Implies more than just emotional pain, which changes the context for me to "you wont use these hands to hurt people anymore". Which is interesting, because it's not in the original lyrics. She added that line for this performance.

When I first witnessed this masterpiece, I sat there absolutely stunned. It literally took me several minutes to process what I had just witnessed and if it was even real or some sort of daydream. There is no way that I would have been able to formulate cohesive sentences, well done :) The studio version is quite good too and I'd be keen to see your reaction to the set design and costumes, it is the same song with a little different vibe, I love them both but this will always be my favorite.

Welcome to the onion club, I cried when I heard this the first time too. My ex was a toxic, abusive narcissist. I'm safe and happy now, but I still struggle with the aftershocks....and I don't want him to hurt anyone else. So I definitely resonate with the concept of "cutting off fingers", I wish I could warn the next girl about who he really is vs who he pretends to be.
