12:35 Kebab is not a sandwich. It's a German invention. Lamb or chicken, grilled with various salad ingredients and tzatziki. The kebab shown in the video was a vegan version.

There’s a lot of processed sugar in (sweet) German pastry, but the sugar content in industrial made hearty foods is way lower in Germany than it is in the USA. We also don‘t use high fructose corn syrup so much in Germany, whereas it‘s in almost everything in the USA.

Oh, my children, my wife and I love Dampfnudeln / Germknödel / Hefeklöẞe. The others prefer Nutella, while I prefer the old-fashioned plum jam. We prefer the version cooked in milk instead of water. And yes, without sauce they are quite dry inside.

yeah dampfnudeln cooked in milk andlater topped with vanilla sauce and hot cherries... you cant go wrong with that :P

Where?!?! I have just paid 5 Euros for a normal Bratwurst (normal length, no baguette) in Bremen, which has by far not the most expensive Christmas market in Germany.

Another nice fact on a christmas-market is as well that we Germans usually known as strict and not funny are very relaxed and chilled there.

Bro, i recommend that you and your wife visit Germany :) travel from the south to the north, its so divers in regional culture and food. As asian, grew up in Germany, i love that.

Heißer Glühwein its hot mulled Wine. There are few Variations. And alcoholfree is bascially Punsch

"Büdchen" or "Buden" are more like Stands where you can stand with your Food and Drinks at little Tables :D

The Prices Allround are different. A Bratwurst can cost 5-6 Euros. The Mushroom You saw in the beginning can cost 6-7 Euros. It depends heavily on the Location.

If you can manage it, come to Hanover for its Christmas markets. As Phil already mentioned, the medieval market is very beautiful and the Finnish village and the wishing well forest with 50 fir trees are absolutely enchanting. And then there is the Christmas pyramid (18 meters / 60 feet high) at Kröpcke and the Roncalli Christmas market at the main train station (only this year) as well as the Christmas Garden at the Hanover Adventure Zoo. And Hanover has just been chosen as the Christmas capital of the north by the Accor hotel group. Happy and contemplative holidays to everyone. Klaus

Dampfnudel is a little bit differend in some Region auf Germany. I think that wat they eat was the Bevarian one. In Rhineland Palatinate and the Odenwald Region you have a "Dampfnudel" with a salty crust. You can eat with Vanilla Sauce, Wine Sauce or a Potato Soup. That they say in the Video: "Thats dry", this Dampfnudel not a good one. The Dampfnudel must be fluffy inside for a good one. You can buy that Rhineland Palatinate and Odenwald in Bakeries and eat without any Sauce or Soup (so here the most people do in the Region)

One information, a Wiener is not a Bratwurst (=coarse meat) but a cooked sausage. Typical for a Weihnachtsmarkt is of course the coarse Bratwurst.

Hi! If you come to Germany, it will definitely be difficult to find a beautiful and interesting city with a very nice Christmas market. The selection is large! At first I suggest my homecity Cologne (Köln). There are a few ones; bigger and smaller. The most famous is in front of the "Kölner Dom". Deana and Phil have some beautiful impressions of the christmals markets in Cologne/ Köln!

Cheese Döner is definitely not (original) Turkish food. My guess is that it was invented in Germany - just like the typical Döner sandwich, by the way, that was invented in Germany (by a Turkish immigrant), and the Döner Rollo, which was invented by an Iranian immigrant in Germany. Döner is the secret national dish of Germany, and whoever had the idea to make it with cheese instead of meat is a genius, because it‘s probably a no brainer for many Germans. Especially on Christmas markets it will sell extremely well I‘m sure. I have never seen it yet, though, it must be very new. My guess is that you‘ll see it everywhere on German markets and festivals real soon.
