A Mark is effectively freekick. The marker has 10 seconds in general play or 30 seconds in attacking 50 to legally dispose of the ball without being tackled or approached by their opponents.
@colconn572 жыл бұрын
Usually a team is trying to move the ball downfield with the aim of scoring, without losing possession. A handball givers you possession but you can be tackled. A mark gives you both possession and an unimpeded kick. Defenders will try to intercept these marks by either punching the ball away, making the ball contested (meaning you have a chance of regaining possession), or marking the ball themselves ( an intercept mark) Possession is everything in Aussie rules.

G'day mate. You've done it again; and yes Sir, a mark is a possession = no score. Some of the footage must have been taken during COVVID restrictions when sport prevailed, hence the small crowds.

Marks give you a free kick opponents stand where you cort the ball and you can kick it around or over them
@christhorney2 жыл бұрын
the reason its going up 1 point is because when you score a behind ( the goal post has the centre opening is a called a goal and gets 6 points and the two ouside openings are a called a behind and get 1 point) but when you score a behind the opposing team gets a free kick from the goal square, and their is sometimes a lag in the point being put on the score board because they kick it out quickly, and we are watching the mark from the free kick so the point was actually scored previous but the lag in time makes it seem like they are awarded a point for a mark but they are not, if that makes sense

Keep it up love the change between music and just other type of videos it’s dope seeing both since I found you threw music, this vid went hard though keep it up and keep growing man💪

The reason it looked like he got 1 point for the mark was because of how the video was edited. In real time he took the mark, had a shot at goal, got one point, then they showed the replay of the mark. On this video they edit out the shot at goal so it appears as though he got a point for a mark.

When they Mark the Ball it is a FREE kick and they do not score unless they kick a goal or a point
@off1k3 жыл бұрын
When you take a mark (catch) it's just a possession/disposal. If you catch a ball from ONLY a kick that's traveled more than 15metres (16yards) without anyone else touching it, itwill be called a mark, the player will have the option to "play on" OR take an unimpeded disposal (free kick or handball) and will have 5 seconds to do so unless it's in scoring range then they can have 30 seconds to take the shot. @7:13 when started talkin about 1 point for mark, what happened was the first footage was live footage, he was in scoring range and took the shot and missed (between big and small posts, 1 point) the 2nd was replay after the shot, that's why the difference in score. @9:55 "that looked the same guy..." It was :) The last Mark won Mark of the Year.

with there score board, to score a goal you have to KICK it in-between the two tall middle posts and that is worth 6 points. on the score board a goal is the first number on the left, and to score 1 point you have to either hit the post or score it in-between the tall and shorter posts and on the score board its the number to the right so say this is your score board 10 7 67, ten is the number of goals kicked so ten times six, and seven is the number of points so sixty plus seven equals sixty seven. hope that helps 👍

It’s all about kicking a goal. It’s the hunger to kick a goal that motivates a player to do anything to get the ball.

If you kick the ball between the tall post and the short post it's 1 point , between the 2 tall post it 1goal which is 6 points. A young fella that plays AFL was on the news tonight and has just announced he is retiring because of to many brain bleeds playing AFL and he's not even 30 year old yet. It's a brutal game. 🤓💪👍🇦🇺

There are not really “plays” in AFL like NFL possession changes over constantly within a quarter. Each team will have the ball many times each quarter and play doesn’t stop in between plays except that if you take a mark ( catch a kick ) then you get about 5-10 seconds to decide what to do. Then the play just continues on the other way. So the game is constantly moving.

Nice reactions. A mark is awarded when a player "controls" the ball (meaning catching it, but it can hit the ground after it is controlled) on the full (without the ball bouncing) from a kick of at least 15 m and without another player touching it. This gives that player an opportunity to go back and take an unimpeded kick or to "play on". Often, in general play, it is better to play on to get the ball moving quickly between team mates and catch the opposition out of position. However, if there is an opposition player close to the player who marks the ball, it might be better to take your time and go back behind the "mark" (the place where the catch was taken) rather than play on and risk the opponent tackling you or intercepting the ball. Also, when within scoring distance of the goals, it is often better to take the kick and line up to try to kick a goal (by kicking it between the two goal posts, which scores 6 points). There is no score just for marking. The apparent change in score from 39 to 40 points at the time of the mark was actually due to editing. If you look closely, you will see that the time has ticked over by about 30 seconds between the two clips. I presume the guy who took the mark kicked a behind (1 point) in the time between the first clip and the replay clip. This AFL video explains the rules of Australian Rules Football pretty well:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrOKjL2U1KfHhWQ.html. There are a few confusing bits of the video. The reason they need to bounce it every "16 yards:" is to slow the player running with the ball a bit so that the opposition has a chance to catch him, like dribbling in basketball. The scores refer to but don't really explain are the number of goals (20 x 6 points) + number of behinds (10 x 1 point) = total points (130). The attendance of the Grand Final (pre-COVID, at least) is just over 100,000.

No points for a mark , only point you get is when the ball goes throw the two big sticks it’s 6 points ,1 point then it goes throw the small and big stick, if the ball hits the big stick it’s a point .🏉

No points for a mark. You’re awarded an unimpeded kick. From there you can either have a shot at goal (if within range), kick to a teammate, or “play on”

Really need to look at What is AFL 1st to understand the rules and scores. A catch is called a mark. Watch the best 50. Shows all history. Best goals too. Best players. Cyril Rioli,Eddie Betts,Buddy Franklin,Gary Ablett Jr,Dusty Martin,Nic Natanui. There's plenty of clips online. Just type in AFL! See a score of 20 10 130. That is 20 goals of 6 points plus 10 points equal score of 130. Best sport in the world once you get into the game and watch more. You'll understand why.
@deanwimbridge93182 жыл бұрын
No points watch AFL explained. You only get points when you kick it though the goals. A mark gives your team position you can stop and take a unimpeded kick or play on .
