As an American I have had very little exposure to Northern Ireland so today I am rectifying that. I am very excited to react and learn about these amazing things to see and do in Belfast. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

I don't think you could visit Belfast without learning something about The Troubles, so visiting the prison makes a lot more sense here than most other places. There's clearly a lot more to Northern Ireland than the legacy of The Troubles, but equally it shouldn't be ignored.

I don't think he picked up on the phrase "The Troubles" and I'm pretty sure he thinks the prison is just a normal prison. I watched the video he did recently looking into the history of Ireland and the video he reacted to didn't really cover the fact we call that era of history "The Troubles" and the significance of that as a phrase.

The Crumlin Road Prison is a great tour, the Halloween tour is even more interesting, Belfast is my City, just outside Belfast ,about 15 miles is the area of Strangford Lough ,an area of outstanding Beauty and also Daft Eddys Pub and restaurant, which sits on the edge of the Lough. You need to visit Northern Ireland ,so many wonderful places to see. I'm English ,but live in Northern Ireland ,this wee country has so many hidden gems.

I'm from Northern Ireland but live in England now. i think at times we take the scenery for granted and often think of great scenery as being what we'd see for instance on a US hiking trail. Huge mountains, forests etc. I guess it's the appeal of something unfamiliar. There's a lot more to Belfast than shown in the video as it spent more time around the Causeway coast than the city. If you are a Game of Thrones fan there's a lot of filming locations to visit as well as the Studio Tour in Banbridge which is well worth a look. It's good to see a reactor understand the distinction between Ireland and Northern Ireland, we don't often see that!

I'm from Belfast, and while this video was good, as far as it goes, it somehow misses out on the essence of our wee City, I am not a "Game of Thrones" fan, but it seems to pop up all over the place! The room shown in the Titanic segment is a reproduction of one of the rooms on the ship, the museum is certainly worth a visit, especially if it rains (and it does sometimes in Northern Ireland!) Come and see for yourselves, you WILL enjoy your visit!

I got half way across the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and froze, I had to be walked backwards, there was a young teenager from the states jumping up and down on the the other end, oh boy, he certainly had a ticking off from his parents and his parents shouted sorry from the other and then the boy came over and apologised to me, apology accepted, he was such a sweet boy in the end

Tyler. You will to be careful with an Irish, or British, pint. In the US a pint is I think 16 fluid ounces. Here and in Ireland a pint is 20 fluid ounce. In the republic of Ireland the Guinness is a different beer to any Guinness you could get anywhere else. In Ireland Guinness have a very good tourist venue. It’s the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin with a great display of the story of the black stuff. The top floor is their Skyline Bar with great views of the city and for your entry fee to enter the Storehouse you get a freshly poured pint of Guinness.

Hi Tyler If you want to see a NON-typical Englishman, who is certainly not average, then watch the much-viewed "Fred Dibnah-How To Erect A Chimney Scaffold " from 1979 and bear in mind he does all you will see with a vertical, slightly unstable ladder, with NO safety equipment or NO whatsoever, on his own, in thin air and then in the part knocks the chimney down Brick By Brick and then in Part 3 he sets fire to it all to knock it down. It WILL blow your mind and they do not make Men like that anymore.

The caves look like the ones where some of Game of Thrones was filmed. The trees are beech trees and they're dying. Normally they live for about 250 years, these trees are 240 years old and there are only half left of the original 150 that were planted. And, the Giant's Causeway has a much smaller matching site directly across the sea in Scotland, which backs up the story of Finn McCool. "Fingal's Cave is on the uninhabited island of Staffa, a tiny island six miles off the coast of Mull in Scotland's Inner Hebrides. It's the Scottish equivalent of the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and Celtic legends link the two with tales of rival giants throwing rocks at each other across the Irish Sea."

The prison is significant because it's where prisoners during "The Troubles" were held. In your reaction video about the history of Northern Ireland, it talks about the era of what was essentially English Imperialism in Ireland and the religious civil war / terrorism / independence movement / that was a part of that. Basically that era between King James annexing Ulster and the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and the Omagh Bombing is an era known as "The Troubles" - although a lot people use it to refer more specifically to the era from the 1960s through to 1998 when the Republican and Unionist paramilitary groups fought each other and, in the case of the Republicans, England. It's a big part of the history of Northern Ireland and the British Isles as a whole. It's a VERY contentious issue even now - possibly spiked somewhat by the fact that Brexit has caused some issues with the Good Friday Agreement - but you might find it interesting to react and learn about. I know you're always respectful in your videos, but treat it with A LOT of dignity and respect if you do. A lot of us know people who died, a lot of us remember the bombs and a lot of us remember the blood - both Irish and English.

Yes a lot of innocent people died in Christmas Bombing campaigns in England; as I am sure a lot of innocent people died in Ireland. They returned completely shaken. Thank the good lord those times are in the past.

The Giants Causeway, according to legend, was actually built by the Scottish giant who wanted to fight Finn McCool. Finn's wife tricked the giant by dressing Finn up as a baby and said that her husband was out hunting and would be back soon. The Scottish giant ran before he could see how big Finn really was and started pulling out rocks from the bridge on his way back to Scotland (and that's why there's only rocks on the Irish side).

Hexagons are THE most common shape in in all aspects of life, from interplanetary to microcopic. Obviously bee hives and those rocks are a bit more noticable, but cell structures, atomic and molecular bonding, water bubbles, snowflakes, the internal structures of your muscles and eye cannals all take on hexagonal shapes naturally. It's the shape that requires the least amount of perimeter for the most amount of area, while also being perfectly tileable, unlike circles, so it's advantageous to cellular life that not being able to tile hexagonally can actually be a cause of, or can cause cancer. Another big reason is that Carbon bonds hexagonally, and all known life is carbon based. Concerning just carbon, human beings are about 18% hexagon

The Giant's Causeway Legend: Once upon a time, there was a mythological Irish giant called Finn McCool who got himself into a spot of trouble with a high-tempered Scottish giant called Benandonner, who had made a claim for Finn’s island of Ireland. Enraged at Bennandonnar’s claim, the giant Finn McCool starts angrily throwing boulders towards Scotland. Inspired by the way they fell into the water, Finn decided to use his boulders to make a bridge or causeway all the way across to confront his rival. But Finn realises he has underestimated his enemy - Benandonner is much much larger than him - so Finn quickly returns to Ireland and comes up with a plan... Benandonner soons makes his own journey across the causeway where he discovers Finn’s wife tending to her enormous baby giant. Realising that if Finn’s child is this big, Finn himself must be huge!! Benandonnar hurries away, retreating back to Scotland with his tail between his legs. As he hurries home, he frantically tears away bits of the causeway, severing all ties between Scotland and Ireland. (This is why Fingal's Cave in Scotland shares the same rock formations as the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland) The ruse? Finn had dressed himself up as a baby to trick the other giant and scare him off. :)

People opened their front room to sell beer... it became so popular back in 18c the goverment saw a chance to make money by taxing and licensing them....then breweries decided to build public houses... its nothing to do with bars... You can still see some old huge public houses around the country...with a tap room..smoke room..lounge room for ladies to be joined by their husbands...ladies were not allowed alone or to approach the actual bar......

Yes... I'm afraid there is a hidden message in this film, and that is that the most awesome to thing to do in Belfast is - get the hell out of there! And while it's a fairly plain city by British standards, it's not THAT bad! In any case, as you've just illustrated Tyler, one man's muck is another man's brass - what is basically a really typical back lane to us that's had a lick of paint and some decorations put up to make it look more interesting to us, is something really cool and interesting to you...! Things you're asking for when you even express an interest in Belfast or Northern Ireland - Bringing a huge number of people who use the comments as a political bulletin board. And 2, a lot of cod History that overly simplifies everything and ignores any opposing viewpoints, political or philosophical. Just be warned. On the other hand, Northern Ireland is pretty spectacular and Belfast is pretty much one of the friendly cities you''ll ever be in (Glasgow and Dublin pale into comparison). Other than political history there was a lot of scientific, economic and artistic history that's scattered around but really doesn't get as much attention as it diserves, but there you go, the Titanic and Game of Thrones, if its not been on TV it isn't interesting i guess!

Ireland is a very beautiful island and as it's an island we are surrounded by beautiful coastline. I enjoy your channel,it's great you've a curious mind ☺️

@@calamityh.6684 It all depends on where you're from , the vast majority would rightly say Belfast is in Ireland which is correct ,it's on the island of Ireland ,but Ireland along with 25 % of the worlds countries was colonized by the British empire, when Ireland won it's independence after 800 years of fighting for it , the Brit empire kept part of the North for various reasons . I could be in Belfast in an hour ,I could catch a bus or drive as it's in Ireland ,but the Brits govern it for now , but eventually NI & Scotland will gain its full independence, and the UK will cease to exist as it stands today .but Belfast is and always was in Ireland ,BUT governed by the British Government,& so is PART of the UK , but it's in Ireland , to give you some understanding of what I mean ,imagine if Germany colonized England & eventually England got all their country back except for London , would London be in Germany then ? No it wouldn't it would be part of Germany'but in England . Which is exactly what I said in my initial comment ,. Nolliag Shona Duit ( Happy Christmas to you 🎅🎅

You are very wrong. Northern ireland is in the UK and shares an open border with Southern ireland or Republic of Ireland. Again, it is not in ireland.

@@mikehull5042 Actually you are wrong. I think you really need to look at a map. Either that, or you are confusing political nomenclature ( United Kingdom) with geographical names (Great Britain), as do many others. Northern Ireland is most of the northern part of the island of Ireland. It is governed by the UK.and makes up the UK along with England, Scotland and Wales. United Kingdom is a political term which refers to those four areas together. Scotland, England and Wales are all on the island of Great Britain (geographical name).. That;s exactly what both of the previous replies said. A British passport bears the title of "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" OR Maybe that was what you meant to say when you wrote "Northern Ireland is IN the UK)
