The assault figures are inaccurate, because swearing or shouting at an officer is called assault.

the thing to remember with the number of officers assaulted In the UK is that any unwanted physical contact, of any description is considered an assault!

It was a member of Parliament in the U.K. in the year 1829, who went by the name Robert Peel, he was the Home Secretary at the time. A Home Secretary is like America’s Attorney General.

Hi, if you come to Britain, you will see police in central London carrying machine guns also at airports and royal homes such as Windsor, other police can be armed in minutes. Regards JH

We have guns but it’s unit based where we have a team of police officers that are specifically trained to use assault weapons during certain knife crimes and crimes involving the buying and selling of firearms

British police do carry guns more than an American would think. I live in a ROUGH area of my city and occasionally see armed police units accompanied by helicopters. Scotland isn’t all rolling hills with beautiful lochs. Keep in mind that ‘assault’ towards a UK police office can be something as little as using bad language, being warned to stop and continuing to use bad language. Our police need a complete reform- the amount of criminals within certain forces have been in the news a LOT lately. One ex-officer in my city has just gone to jail for grooming a young victim he met at a crime scene, leading to a sexual relationship.

The definition of assault on a police officer in the UK. Is that contact was made. So just touching the officer is assault, not that the officer has been injured. The video was wrong about time off for the UK police. 28 paid days leave is the legal minimum for all full time workers in the UK. Proportional for part time workers For the UK pension they failed to say that they will like most workers get state pension in addition to police pension. From April 2023 that will be £203.85 ($252.85) per week.

Contact is not required. Swearing is also counted as assault.

Don't understand how that is? Assault requires contact. Swearing at an officer is a section 5 public disorder offence

That's also towards the public. I did a door supervisor course and if you touch someone that's classed as assault. Stupid as ppl like Marlene Headlet is now saying touching her hair is assault.

Assault is anything from swearing at them to touching them without their permission. So, these figures are very misleading.

The video which you are reacting to is GROSSLY inaccurate about assaults against officers Actual numbers taken from Office of National Statistics and Home Office records here Key findings In the year ending March 2022 there were just over 41,000 assaults on police officers in England and Wales (including British Transport). Of which: 29,491 were crimes of “assault without injury on a constable” recorded across all forces an increase of 11% compared with 26,539 in the previous year 11,730 crimes of “assault with injury on a constable”[footnote 1] recorded across all forces (including British Transport Police), a small increase of 2.6% compared with 11,429 in the previous year Police recorded crime data The data source for assaults on police officers is the police recorded crime series, which are published quarterly in ‘Crime in England and Wales’, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This note is updated on an annual basis only, so the crime statistics should be used to access data on a quarterly basis. Prior to the introduction of the crime classification “assault with injury on a constable” in April 2017, it was only possible to identify assaults on police officers that did not result in injury from the crime statistics. Assaults that resulted in injury were recorded under the relevant offence classification, such as “violence with injury”. A new crime classification for “assault with injury on a constable” was introduced on the 1st April 2017, and this is the fifth year for which such data are available. Previously, the Home Office used a combination of self-reported assaults data held within police forces’ Human Resource (HR) or health and safety systems and police recorded crime data of “assault without injury on a constable” to estimate the total number of assaults. Since the introduction of the new crime classification “assault with injury on a constable”, data from forces’ health and safety systems are no longer required. There are some differences between what is recorded on the health and safety systems, and what is recorded as a crime. In particular, the crime classification of “assault with injury on a constable” will exclude cases of more serious assaults. This is because, in line with the Home Office Counting Rules for recorded crime, the assault will be recorded under a more serious crime classification, such as “attempted murder”, from which it is not possible to separately identify assaults on police officers.

To be accurate it’s roughly 647 hours of training for American coppers, to put that into a retrospective, your common day barber has over 1500 hours of training and Uk police have at least three years of training
