I've seen his stand up shows a few times and I've also been to recordings of this show, Modern Life Is Goodish. Not only are the TV shows free to go to, he gives everyone who goes a ticket for a free drink at the bar before the show. That's a pretty smart way to loosen up the audience. At one of the shows I went to he secretly filmed the audience going to the bar and then did a whole bit about the way people get to the front of the queue to get served. His first big TV show was The Dave Gorman Collection (Are You Dave Gorman?) where he travelled around the World to try and meet, photograph and shake hands with 54 other Dave Gorman's, one for every card in a deck of cards plus the jokers. It was a drunken bet and it sounds like it would make crap television but it absolutely works.

Dave's gag about Astrology is all the funnier when you discover that earlier in his career he did a limited series about whether his life would improve if he followed Astrology over a period of time. Also, he did a series/book called America Unchained where he was determined to road trip from West Coast to East Coast, avoiding any big chain hotels, restaurants or gas stations. It's one of the best roadtrip books I've ever had the pleasure to read

Dave Goreman is a genuine legend. The fact he can make a show which has 5 seasons and every single one is a new stand-up routine is amazing. I've seen him live twice and both times he was fantastic. Definitely worth checking out the odd video from Modern Life is Good-ish as well as the rest of his material. A personal favourite from the MLIG series is the prank he played with the V-tech toot toot cars. Absolute gold!

During the French Revolution, an attempt was made to introduce a new calendar called the French Republican Calendar, also known as the Revolutionary Calendar. It kept with 12 months, but each month was divided into three ten-day weeks called "décades." This calendar was adopted by the National Convention in 1793 and was used for about 12 years, until it was officially abolished in 1805 by Napoleon.

The International Fixed Calendar is very similar to the one in the video with 13 months of 28 days all starting on a Sunday. There was significant support for it in the 1920s and 1930s, particularly amongst business.

Every show that Dave Gorman does is researched to the nth degree. It takes a phenomenal amount of time and effort but it always pays off in such a funny and entertaining way. He is fun. I remember his rant about the days in the month rhyme, which in fact he, like most people, didn't know properly. As it was originally, as I learned it, it made perfect sense, and it rhymed. I quote: Thirty days hath September, April, June and November, all the rest have 31 execpting February alone, which has but 28 days clear, and 29 in each Leap Year.

He's put ALL 36 eps of this series (Modern Life Is Goodish) on his channel, he was obviously canny in retaining the rights and like all 'good people' has made it 'free use' when the time was right. Gotta love Dave Gorman. Jimmy Carr is similar in that respect. Big ups to them both, proper good people. You have to do a full reaction set to Modern Life Is Goodish though Boomer, it's all great. Extremely funny, witty and intelligent comedy. I've been revisiting it every so often for the last few yrs, doesn't seem to get old. There are also a few earlier pieces content from him as well, one man shows and TV series, others have likely recommended them. He did also appear on a few panel shows known to you, he was certainly on WILTY.
