Ryan, the feeling of excitement that you get when entering a amusement park is a reminder that even though we all grow older, we must never grow up, always keep the child within alive for your entire life 👍

@@bernadettelanders7306I’m a senior, too, & I love roller coasters, especially the giant drop. I think I got acclimatised as a kid in the 4-seater planes my father used to fly. (He’s dropped back to a 2-seater ultralight now he’s so far past 90.) I always say I’m afraid of heights, but not really. If I feel safe I’m fine, I’m just afraid of falling.

Weather in the video was overcast and grey, which probably accounted for the low number of patrons. Also mid-week is much quieter than weekends and school holidays. Obviously "Maloney's Coasters" focused on just the rides, but the water park attached to Dreamworld is also great, especially during summer, and not to mention the largest Lego store in the southern hemisphere. Annual local passes are usually on sale for around AUD $99, which included both parks.

That coaster track up the side of that big tower is the old thrill ride of the 90s called 'the tower of terror'. It was magnetically loaded on a straight track, and it shot off at top speed went up at over 100mph, big g force, stalled near the top, the came flying backwards down the tower back to start. It was very cool.

Sad thing was before my back went I was planning to ride my motorcycle with some friends around the whole country to see all of these places . My friends went but unfortunately I couldn’t go and haven’t been able to ride a bike since . But these videos you find are fantastic, thanks .

Amusement parks are fine. In a country where the surf is always gnarly, there are a million things ready to bite you on the walk/cycle to school, every day an AFL or rugby tackle is inevitable, you alternate between running from wild fires and swimming through floods, and there's the thrill of climbing the 200ft Gloucester Tree as well, my grandsons feel they're a tad tame. 😂

Movie World is also at the Gold Coast. My sons preferred the rides there to Dreamworld. My second and third sons in particular loved going on the most extreme roller coasters. There was however a much smaller looking indoors coaster that I agreed to go on (with all the boys.) It was in the dark, with lights etc. The darkness, and 90 degree curves, sudden drops, etc, made me wish I had gone on the big scary ones outside instead. I did not like it, although I have to admit that I have never enjoyed any roller coaster I have ever been on. I do not understand how anyone can enjoy fear and adrenaline. My sons, though, loved it.

Looks like this was filmed in the off peak (shoulder) period outside the holiday season, hence the small crowds, empty seats on rides and vacant parking bays. It’s a shame there wasn’t any footage from “on” the rides, especially now with action type cameras like GoPro etc. I can recall filming rides at Silver Dollar City back in 1999 with a traditional Sony handycam whist strapped into many rides.

Hi Ryan, one video worth watching is on the tower of terror that was at Dreamworld, there were two versions of the ride when it first opened you were facing forward going up the giant drop tower then they turned the car around, and you were facing backwards. The ride went up to the height of 115 m, with a max speed of 161 km/h, it closed on the 3 November 2019 to make way for the new river town area. The G-force everyone experienced was 4.5 g's, the duration was 28 seconds, and the acceleration was 0 to 160.9 km/h (0 to 100 mph) in 7 seconds. I rode both versions of the ride and I always liked the first version better, which for me made me feel like I was flying and the few seconds of weightlessness when you reach the top was amazing. I was sad when they announced the tower of terror was going to be demolished.
