Once you open any definition on who is not human, no human can be safe to be regarded as a human. It is really disappointing, that people still did not get this lesson after the 20th century. Yes. murderers are human also - people not treating other humans as such gives no one the right to exclude them from humanity. If you do, you make the same mistake they do and nothing gets better for no one. That's not so much an issue with actual art pieces sitting in a museum or gallery where you're not allowed to touch it anyway but as a surface paint on a huge house exposed to the elements, nuh uh. Even though there's other alternatives, I'm not sure if anything as light absorbent as vantablack (or Black 4.0 for example) has any fewer potential health concerns (owing to how that light absorption is achieved) for such a project, or if it would even sustain over any significant period of time with all that weather exposure. Mind you, if there were a way to do this that doesn't pose a health risk I'd LOVE to live in a black goth house (gothic style architecture optional) because it looks pretty damn slick.

That is what you call a dutch auction (invented there and used to sell flowers and vegetatables). It starts at a high price and then the price on the clock drops. the first one that presses on the button gets it for the price the clock stops at. So the quicker you press the higher chance you get it but at a higher price.. waiting might be worth it but you run the risk another bidder gets the item first.. So you need to have a really good feel for what the reasonable market price is on that day week or month for the specific product. This system makes it possible to sell big lots of plants and vegetables within in seconds to a minute. When the clock runs out and no one has bought it the lot gets removed from the market and the next lot is put up. Often vegetables that due to massive production are not sold, get sprayed with something bitter and sold for cheap/free to farmers to feed their cattle

Burg Hohenzollern is one of the last castles ever built. It was built between 1850 and 1867 by Frederick William IV of Prussia. So it's only 156 years old. It was the ancestral seat of the imperial House of Hohenzollern, which was the house of the German emperors. The works on Bavaria's King's Schloss Neuschwanstein, which was heavily influenced by Hohenzollern castle, started in 1869, just two years after, and finished in 1884.

10:50 that tornado video was taken in Paderborn on 22nd May 2022. That day, an F2 tornado touched down in the cities Lippstadt, Paderborn and Höxter. We do have some small tornados, but something of that scale and that damage was never seen before. Paderborn was hit worst as there were lots of people outside of that shopping centre you saw who got injured. There also was a furniture store with a glass front and the windows burst and everything got blown around on the inside. In Lippstadt, we were very lucky as there was really heavy rain just before the tornado so everybody was in some sort of shelter, except one mad postman still riding his bike through the park. He was swept off his bike and was lightly injured. The tornado went along the river and was around 500m wide, so our beautiful old town was quite badly affected and the look of the city that was preciously dominated by beautiful promenades by rivers with trees changed forever. An example of this is Friedrichstraße, a street that was very beautiful with lots of trees before and now it's just barren. New trees have been planted, but they'll take decades to grow to the size of the old ones. One of my coworkers lived there, and another parked his car there. It did not go well for the car.

The term “flower auction” originates from the professional environment of floristry and refers to an established process at wholesale markets for flowers, where traders have the opportunity to purchase certain types of flowers. As a company that sells flowers or as a larger florist, the purchase of goods takes place on a much larger scale. Thousands of flowers often change hands at a flower auction. The flower auction is traditionally conducted as a reverse auction, i.e. starting from a high base price, the price is gradually reduced and can be followed on large auction boards. If a wholesaler is interested in certain varieties and plants, he can interrupt the auction at any time at the touch of a button and thus gain possession of the pallets currently on offer. In a flower auction, the experience of the bidder and catching the right moment are the most important factors, and this is where the special appeal of a flower auction lies. If a bidder expresses interest in an item too early, he may pay considerably more than is absolutely necessary. If, on the other hand, he decides too late to press his bid button at the flower auction, the risk of a competitor winning the bid for the goods on offer increases as the price falls. These Parkinglots are in South Korea.......we don't have blue license plates....but to be fair we have these (not in pink) also in germany for saftey reason and yes near the entrance. Since the 1990s, studies have documented that many women feel unsafe in public spaces because they fear sexual assault and violence. This restricts their freedom of movement: For fear of being threatened or harassed, many women avoid certain spaces, especially in the evening and at night. Urban planning changes to so-called fear spaces, such as parks, underpasses, parking lots at freeways and airports, multi-storey and underground parking lots, have led to the creation of women's parking spaces, among other things. These are usually closer to escape routes and exits, more brightly lit or located within camera range and are thus intended to increase women's sense of security and promote their mobility. Women's parking spaces are now standard in many cities.

During the Cold War, the House of Hohenzollern made it possible for the "poor children" from the "front city of Berlin" to stay at the castle. That was one of the experiences I will never forget. yes, and imagine you have to haul around that contraption, with all the umbellical hoses, as there were no air tanks yet. Like with divers in that era, and that is where those companies got involved, the breathing aparatus you can barely make out was fed by an external pump. So besides the heavy clothes and helmet, you would have to haul around an air hose, a water hose for the water shield or cooling shield, which increased the weight of the clothing as it may have been waterproofed, but that was different from what we know today, and of course your regular hose. Not really something you would enter a building with. Also imagine in all that gear, if your water supply gets cut, how fast and nicely you would get steamed in there. So no surprise not all of those ideas really took of.

5:23 I never saw Burg Hohenzollern like that. Great perspective. I flew once around it in a small plane. Visited it twice (first time as a pupil in first or second grade). The crown of Wilhelm II (last German Emperor) is there on display. The current building actually is not that old, it was built in 1850.

Essen, my hometown 😍 The photo was taken at the shoreline of „Baldeneysee“, a reservoir in the river Ruhr. The dam and hydroelectric powerplant were built in the 1920s to fill Essen‘s demand for drinking water and electricity, since Essen was one of the major industry centers in Germany. You have probably heard of the company Krupp that built most artillery pieces in the German armies from the mid 1800s to the end of WW2. Unfortunately that was a reason for several severe USAF and RAF air raids wich left the Krupp factories with minor damages but destroyed about 98% of the civilian surroundings including Essen‘s old town, which dated back about 1,200 years.

17:53 The mystery car on the right is a VW Karman Ghia II. It is based on the VW Beetle platform so has the air cooled VW flat four as well. It was sold in the USA as well, but probably was considered to be just too small by most. The mystery car on the left is an Opel Olympia Rekord, ancestor of the Opel Rekord which in turn preceded the Opel Omega in Germany. If I remember right that picture was taken in Düsseldorf. These big pre-stessed concrete roofs for fuel stations were were all the rage back then, I still saw many of them in my childhood in the Seventies. They became unstable before long, most hardly lasting 20 years. There's an old rivalry between Düsseldorf and Colonian carnival clubs that has become the source of many jokes, by the way. I recently had an issue with Google Maps (Well, who doesn't? 🤨) and almost ended up in Düsseldorf. I told a friend from Cologne about the situation. "I've no clue what happened there", I said. He replied "Did you get angry at your nav and shouted at it to go to hell?" I liked that one. 🤗

That stadium can take an earthquake like a boss! The middle car at the gas station is a Karmann Ghia which was a coupe based on the underpinnings of the VW Beetle and aimed to fill the gap with the Porsche 356. The model was also built in Brazil as well and the US was one of the more important markets for the model. The left car is most likely an Opel Olympia 1958 model, the funny thing is that it is a new car but there is already a distinct colour tone difference between the door and the rest of the body, already had been involved in a crash and a subsequent repair poorly done?

The flower auction in Germany looks impressive, but the largest and most modern flower auction - by far- is Royal FloraHolland in The Netherlands in Aalsmeer. That same company also is 25% stakeholder in the flower auction in your video. In the background above the clocks you see the name 'Veiling Rhein-Maas'. Veiling is the Dutch word for auction.

Those auctions are mostly a dutch thing and i didn't know there were any like that in Germany. They work using these price clocks which count down from a high price to zero. The first person to press the button gets the deal. The customers are resellers. Nowadays these auctions actually happen mostly online and no longer in person in a room.

11:18 Tornadoes are more common in Germany per area than they are in the US and iirc, Wales gets the most per area but that goes for entire countries. The US as a whole is rather varied, so while you will probably never see a tornado or water spout in certain areas in the US, the American Tornado Alley is certainly still the specific area (ignoring borders) that gets the most tornadoes and the most violent, too. Although I think that statistic includes waterspouts, which outnumber tornadoes making landfall in Europe by a bit (again iirc).

3D printed houses for the most are still experimental or conceptional and far from common yet. Tornadoes around here are way more common than most people think, but while very locally they cause severe damage, they are no comparison in size what the US experiences frequently. Those women parking spots are not in Germany from the picture, but yes, we have them. As you mentioned usually close to the entrance, staircase or even a guards offfice. Usually also well lit, at least camera surveilance. They came up with the concept quite a while ago after regular attacks on women in dimly lit parking garages. That gas station is a thing of the past. Not sure how old that picture is. Most gas stations of that vintage and design are no longer gas stations today. sometimes small stores for beveragges took over, sometimes small sort of diners, most often those fell into disrepair and got torn down one day.

The car at the fuel station is a VW Karmann*-Ghia (1955-1974, 1,2-1,6l and under 1t) also nicknamed as the 911 for the secretary. In the 1950s, its performance was still acceptable, but in the 1960s or even 1970s, the car was underpowered for its price. *Karman factory in Osnabrück wich has build many cars for VW and Porsche, mostly cars with lower production numbers and cabriolets. Karman had a car productin line, but the line was not running at the speed like those at the other car manufactoring plants, so they had more time for individual fittings and smaller production number cars.

Livraria Lello is one of Porto's most emblematic neo-Gothic buildings. For years, the Lello staircases were also considered locally to be the supposed inspiration for the bookshop where Harry Potter met Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, as J.K. Rowling once lived in the city of Porto. However, in May 2020, J.K. Rowling denied this alleged inspiration, stating that she never entered the bookshop.

Hohenzollern Castle is great to look at. It is the family seat of the Hohenzollern family, one of the most important German noble families and te family that held the title of "Kaiser" in the 2nd Reich. But it is not old. It was actually built in the 19th century, from 1850 onwards and was more like a Prussian Disney Castle (the Hoenzollern family had become kings of Prussia by then, so yes, a Prussian Disney Castle in Swabia) - not unlike Neuschwanstein in Bavaria, the model for the actual Disney Castle.
