Steve has brought Family Feud to South Africa which is a huge step in changing how African is portrayed to the rest of the world. Also, this was just hilarious!!

And while there are 11 official languages, we have multiple dialects for each language. Most people, especially African Black, speak multiple languages. We are the kings and queens of code switching. We will say one short sentence in multiple languages and accents

Yes Yes! Do more a whole lot more. It’s fun to hear and see you learn about us (South Africans) and shout when you visit, it’s always a good time here. The reason everyone broke in song and dance is because it’s easy to start a party or at least start a good time or a vibe. All you need is some happy people and any type of rhythm or beat and the noise of fun and dance escalates into impromptu dance and song. Please continue with the family feud SA videos. I have just subscribed so I’ll be looking out for them. Thank you @pierre petit

But the truth is that, ya'll sound desame to the rest of world. Same with us Nigerians. There's a standard way Nigerians sound- basic naija accent, such that if hear that it anyway i go in the world, I'll quickly say "yeah, that's def a Nigerian" but when you look at it more closely, we actually have yoruba accent, igbo accent, Hausa, bini, etc. only us Nigerians can notice the difference, but to the rest of the world, we simply just sound Nigerian. Don't know if that makes sense, Lol

also just wanted to say real quick. i was born and raised in America, yes, but I am 100% Haitian with two super Haitian parents & tons of Haitian friends and family. (i put American in the title so hopefully Americans can watch)... anyway, i can relate to when a country gets misrepresented in media all the time. the same way Africa is portrayed as poor and hungry, so is Haiti, when we both have RICH and BEAUTIFUL land, people, and INSANE background & culture. i visited when i was a kid & it’s literally the definition of a Caribbean Island with big houses and palm trees. but all America shows is dirt roads and starving kids 😤😤

Just subscribed brother. Enjoy your reactions. You're so right. The reason we're known as the Rainbow Nation is because of our diversity. For instance, the Mariano family are classified as Coloured (Mixture of Malaysian, Indonesian, European, Khoi-San, Greekwa, etc.) in SA. I know Coloured is a swear word in the States but it was used during Apartheid to isolate our people in smaller groups. Today more than 8 of 59 million South Africans identify as being Coloured. Now that you've said your Haitian American, kinda thought of other proud Haitians like Wyclef Jean & Maxwell. Continue the good work.
@realsebsworld3004
@realsebsworld3004 4 жыл бұрын
The thing is that Haiti is majority Black and those people that are portraying these countries as poor are so racist in a way that they hate Africans to the core same as here in South Africa you cannot imagine how racist this country is. We have black people here who are denying their African ancestry because of being brainwashed so much that they worship anything that is European For Example the family of Mariano is a group classified as Coloureds which consists of Khoisan,Bantu,European,Malay,Indian and some Asiatic groups from Madagascar it is a mixture of different shades you call them black they swear the hell out of you.

@Imani Ife No, it was first the British than the years later, there was a war between the British and Boers( fighting over the control of South Africa). The British lost the war then the Boers took charge. But yeah British and Boers those are two different things, the Boers are mainly from the Netherlands so Dutch Origins.

@@africaine4889 we were colonized by England in the U.K. in S.A we speak Universal English we don't speak American English I get ur argument but all I'm saying is we speak the same English from U.K that makes our accents almost sounds the same.. You said "American" as your 1st word we don't speak American English, America was colonized by British and France that makes our accents and English very different by a distinction.

Just by the way, Steve Harvey has been bringing the Essence Festival to South Africa (in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal) for some years now, I attended in 2016. So he's a little familiar with SA and has always said that he wants to establish some sort of a school to teach South African creatives about Showbusiness. The Essence Fest in itself would have so many international artists who didn't come just to perform but there'd be sessions where we just chill with them and chat about stuff... pretty cool

Your chair noises 💀 1) South Africa unfortunately still has some odd racial classifications (even currently) based off colonial ideals. This said, that's not in any form negate all it's people's cultural heritage. 2) The population of South Africa is mostly Black (African) with variety of ethnicities, tribes and sub-tribes. This can be confusing for some but it's the beauty of our melanin. 3) Yeah we have a variety of accents depending on several factors, including but not limited to; geographical area; language (s) spoken; cultural influence. Thank you for appreciating us 💜
