Just because people swear to the Queen doesn't mean they actually mean it. The Armed Forces are controlled by the Ministry of Defense, the Queen might have symbolic language designed to make the Monarchy's role in proceedings seem important at the end of the day it is the MOD that pays the military personnel their wages so I'm sure if there was a difference in opinion between the Monarchy and the government most would pick the side that butters their bread.

The only threat to our aircraft was on the carriers by the Exocet anti ship missiles their aircraft carried, they bought them from France. They paid for 4 but only got two. That’s how we lost HMS Sheffield. The raid on the Stanley airfield by the Vulcan really put the shits up them. And the raid by the SAS later sealed the deal. They withdrew all aircraft to the mainland.

Let's not forget Prince Phillip in WW2, and the Queen herself in 1944, while she was still Princess Elizabeth, 18 years old, helped directly with the war effort by serving as a mechanic.

Another reason why parliament might concentrate more on England is that there is no devolved English assembly or parliament. So all of the work that the regional assemblies do has to be done in Westminster for England.
