Obviously everyone including yourself would have their own musical tastes - but...Beach Boys monotone - definitely not. The combination of all of their voices singing together gave them the unique sound and harmonies that made them as successful and adored as they were in their performing heyday and still highly regarded - in essence the only other group of sibling's that have come since them and could be argued have such unique harmonies were the Bee Gee's. So yeah 1 thing def not accurate is to call the Beach Boys monotone, perhaps cause was such a short bit of them as video is a countdown you thought that but if you were to listen to more of them for longer would realise how technical and unique their harmonies were.

But I wanted to point out something: you have been asking about American bands/rock musicians--one you should check out is Jimi Hendrix! He was the greatest rock guitar player EVER! He got his start playing behind The Isley Brothers and Little Richard, but he had some difficulty striking out on his own, either because promoters thought he was too wild or due to prejudiced nightclub owners. When he moved to England and got some help from the likes of The Animals, The Beatles and The Who, he became a rock superstar. He changed the way guitar was played, he changed how it sounded. Just with his first record he changed how rock sounded, transforming it from the jangly, feel good sound it once had, to the loud, devastating, crunchy sound that is now standard. His songs are amazing, like Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Fire, Foxy Lady, All Along The Watchtower, Voodoo Child. And could he play? He could play his guitar behind his head, behind his back, between his legs, doing splits, he could even play it with his teeth! You gotta check out Jimi Hendrix!
