There are stages to IT Crowd, Father Ted, Black Books etc. You watch it and laugh a lot the first time you watch it. The second viewing you remember the first time and laugh again, third time you chuckle, the fourth, fifth and sixth time you have it playing in the background while you do other stuff because they're just great shows and they're comforting. After that you'll come full circle and be laughing uncontrollably again. Then we get in to the realm of introducing friends to the shows and you know what's coming so you are dying laughing at your friend laughing at the shows. What I'm trying to say is these shows are timeless and you can never get bored with them despite their short runs

You should do a show called Garth Merenghi’s Darkplace (spoof horror) with Richard Ayoade, Matt Berry and Matt Holness. Also, the DVD extra features are something else. Also, Man to Man with Dean Learner (same cast). I don’t think either of them found a mass audience, but both have devoted fans

I went to a taping of one episode. There was a scene they had to do several retakes of. The problem with retakes is getting the audience to laugh like it’s the first time, as they mention in one of the outtakes. But Richard Ayoade is so brilliant, each time he came up with a different punchline, so we did laugh like it was the first time.

12:00 Now imagine acting Shakespeare, on a stage. You don't get any second chances. For high-level stage actors, I imagine that shooting films is a cake walk. Memorizing stuff isn't quite as tough as you may think, though. It takes time, but the real skill is in delivering the lines convincingly, not remembering them. I have memorized several quite long monologues just because I appreciate the writing, and no one was paying me. What I can't do is deliver the monologues convincingly. I would be wooden.

Another British comedy played to death on a certain channels is Nicholas Lyndhurst's "Goodnight Sweetheart", 1993-99, then Special 2016. Is a light comedy about a TV repairman accidentally finds a portal to the past and ends up living a double life. It one you can watch easily with you wife. 6 Seasons [59 Episodes + Plus 1 End Finale Special]. Hit or miss but still a comedy classic strongly worth considering.

Noel Fielding (Richmond) is hilarious in just about anything he does. Those bloopers were funny, but I'm with you on this. With the show itself you can suspend you disbelief enough to imagine it actually happening. Watching bloopers continually reminds you that it's all a fiction, which somehow detracts from even the funnier moments.

Speaking as an occasional actor, line learning methods vary, and it also depends on their experiences. Theatre actors or those whose background is in theatre tend to be better at the memorizing because they're used to not having the lifeline of a second, third, fourth take etc. TV/Film actors have that safety net and it can breed complacency in line learning, but TV actors definitely have an excuse if they're filming the runtime of multiple films, back to back, it's a lot of material to digest and it's a meticulously slow production process, energy sapping.
