The big guy you're saying shouldn't be that fast is the late Jonah Lomu of the New Zealand All Blacks, one of the greatest of all time who despite his size could run 100m in 10.8 seconds. Sadly he passed away in 2015 aged 40.

#2 Jonah is one of the biggest ever of the sport. He had some rare kidney disease already as a teenager, and played the last 20 years despite it. He was quoted to once have said 'Imagine what i could have done healthy'. He had a kidney transplant in 2002 and still made a comback in 2005. He died at age 40 :( A true physical beast that defied even his own body's illness.

Jonah is the GOAT. I remember seeing an interview with some England players that played against him in the 90s. They said they were all terrified of him as a player. The entire team had to change the way they played rugby purely to counter Jonah when he was on the pitch. When one of the best teams in the world had to change the way they played for a single player, you know he was something special.

I used to hate playing in the cold and frost, you know it when you tackle on a concrete floor😣 We used to have metal studs back in the 80s and would skate across the concrete playground to get them nice and sharp. I hated playing for the school but playing at a club with friends.... happy days. I'm old and broke now so just have to watch 🇬🇧❤

These athletes are the very best and know how to tackle sans protection. But, the collisions are terrifying and painful. They just deal with it. It is part of the game. One thing you will discover is that all Rugby professionals have had AC dislocations. They all have that classic lump at that joint line (where the clavicle meets the acromion process of the scapula) from the tremendous impact of those shoulder-first tackles. It is a badge of honor for Rugby players, just like missing front teeth for hockey players or cauliflower ears for wrestlers or grapplers.

You should go and watch an explanation of the rules of rugby. This will benefit your understanding of why this game is so good. For this video, convert your kilograms to pounds to fully understand why these athletes are beasts. A lot of these players shown in this video are seriously fast for their size. Tackling is an art in rugby (so that they dont get injured), so for players to "truck" other players, it comes from who is the least afraid at the moment. Big fan of the NFL but rugby players are just built differently.

@@MemphisBrown-wy9es if someone told us in our area back in the 80’s that an Etzebeth was going to be so famous, we would’ve laughed and said, never in a thousand years. His one uncle worked for the local municipality. He would often come visit my Mom in law during the day as she was a housewife. My wife was still in school and now she is 52. So many many years ago. That was his biggest Uncle. He sadly passed away just before Covid. The Uncles would come watch my Father in Law play baseball after he gave up Rugby. I’ve also had plenty a brawl with an Etzebeth way back in the early 90’s. Ebens older cousins. Always a fight if they were out and of course I didn’t back down.

There is one thing about rugby that you don't see in many other sports and that's they don't argue with the ref. What he says goes. Football (soccer to our cousins across the pond) on the other hand a player falls over if a light wind passes him by and if the ref doesn't believe him he'll throw a tantrum and start arguing. Regby players seem to have a lot of respect for the ref.
