I am a volunteer tour guide aboard HMCS Sackville , a WW2 Flower Class corvette . She is a museum ship in Halifax , Nova Scotia , Canada. Your video on the USS Iowa is very interesting . I can appreciate what it takes .

This Battleship is more than an icon. It is the timeless soul of the fighting American standing up to challengers and tyrants anywhere in the world throughout the ages generation after generation to keep America safe and free from those who would otherwise extinguish our spirit & democracy. It troubles me that so many opposed saving it, but it gladdens me that a valiant few fought bravely with everything they had and saved it for this grateful nation. We can never rest in this quest to preserve our freedom and souls for clearly, those who oppose our American ideals are not just overseas but are in our midst, and some of them even hold positions in government. Being ever vigilant and active, generation after generation, ever since the founding of this nation is the only thing that will preserve our ideals of freedom, self defense & liberty. To those that saved this ship, thank you and God bless you! And to those that continue to preserve it, may God bless you, too!

The USS Iowa is one of the reasons I joined the US Navy in 1987. I was born and raised in Iowa. As a child we would visit the State Capital, inside the capital is a Large model of the USS Iowa. I was fascinated as a Child. As an adult I took my kids to visit Her in 2014. Bravo... well done. BTW The SS UNITED STATES Has larger boilers than the Iowas, with higher pressure steam.

@@neubauerjosephI highly doubt any nuclear carrier will be a museum ship, never mind how incredibly huge and expensive to operate she is. There’s not very many places that can accommodate a carrier - and many of those places already have one as a museum!

I was lucky enough as an Australian Navy man to go to sea on the USS Missouri, and off Muscat, Oman the USS Wisconsin was at anchor as we left the Middle East war zone. Awesome ships that were the great equaliser's with those 16-inch guns.

Took my son to see the USS Iowa, in July of 2012, while on our vacation from Texas.

The USS Missouri should be in front of the St Louis Arch there was the USS inaugural but the flood of 93 sank it just south of the Poplar Street Bridge it would be nice to see a museum ship down there again

The Mississippi River is way too shallow for a ship the size of USS Missouri to be moved up. Add in that the many bridges that cross the river also aren’t tall enough.

That looks like a wartime news clip, and it sounds like he was referring to united nations not the United Nations, which didn’t exist when Iowa was completed.
