After spending a week in Paris for Paris fashion week, getting to see the way real french women wear makeup I noticed it's very different from how we cut our crease and wing our eyeliner here in the US. i loved seeing how french women enjoy simplistic natural makeup natural eyes and bold lips or vise versa. With that said I did this type of video before and had such a great response that I decided to do it again! Here is part 2 of my country vs. country makeup tutorial. Enjoy and if you have another country you'd like to see me do comment down below!! i love doing these types of videos their so fun!

Tips I learned from my French mother: Indeed, if eyes are dramatic, lips are nude, if lips are red, eyes are natural. Also, the shorter the skirt, the lower the heels.

Actually, "American" makeup varies a lot. I have seen plenty of both of these styles in American makeup trends, it just depends what the person prefers. You see each style in different makeup brands. For example, Urban Decay has a more party, dramatic look while Glossier (an American brand) has a very natural, glowy look.

I’m French, I was always told that the rule was either you highlight the eye, either you highlight the lip, I though it was a rule for everyone. Highlighting both is said to be tacky. Same goes with clothes, either you show your legs, or you show your clivage but not both.

Same here! I grew up in the 70’s when the natural look was in, and we were trying to get away from the bold look of the 60’s. Can’t wait for the natural trend to come back. Maybe the French are bringing this back, since they are usually ahead of us in fashion and makeup.

I'm Belgian, so I'm probably biased, but I definitely prefer the French side. It's also the kind of make up we do here. It's really rare to see someone with a full face of make up like the American trend, honestly. Usually, we just put a bit of tinted moisturizer or just the good old concealer where it's needed, a bit of eye make up if we want (a lot of girls and women just put a bit of mascara), and voilà!

I'm from the Netherlands and I feel the same. Although maybe there are more women here that follow the American trend. But I feel for there daily make-up most women wouldn't go through all that trouble. There are some women who love their make-up and would do it every day maybe. But most would just put some foundation, mascara and maybe something on their lips. And then sometimes adding eyeliner/eyeshadow or blush/contouring depending on the person or the occasion. But to do it all just seems so much work. For a special occasion I would probably still choose if I would do eyeshadow or eyeliner or something else and not do it all together. And I have a lot of days where I don't wear make-up at all.

Same in Spain, and probably in all West Europe 🤔 But here BB creams are more popular than tinted moisturizers and some people use bronzer or blush. I think the heavy american makeup makes people look a lot older than they are and also a lot of people think that much makeup just looks ridiculous.

it really impresses me how false lashes seem to be such a huge thing in the US, I've seen women going to the gym with a full glam face and being a French girl I would never dare to wear false lashes for an everyday basis and even less for going to the gym. But anyways, it's just cultural diversity and I think it's awsome :)

I hate false lashes, they seem so unnecessary in my opinion 😀 plus I shouldn't like having glue on my eyelash line and tugging at my real ones every day. But then again I was blessed with naturally long eyelashes, so I do understand the appeal to an extent.

I agree I don’t understand as an American woman why there are some girls that wear any makeup to the gym period and yes false lashes are overrated (i dont know any girls in my friend group that wear false lashes). I don’t believe I’ve ever seen everyday American women wear false lashes on the streets so it’s only a thing amongst American beauty gurus and Sephora employees. Also trust me most American women DO NOT wear their makeup like in this video. I live in a very massive city in NYC and i can tell you that most girls ik personally wear EVEN LESS makeup than even on the French side. Yes there are girls that do wear makeup like the American side but usually the only women i see with such heavy makeup are Sephora employees I’ve seen some girls on my college campus with heavy makeup like that but it’s not as common as the media likes to make it seem it is. Also my whole friend group either dont wear makeup hardly ever or wear the bare minimum like just lipstick. Even for me if i want to wear makeup i just draw in my eyebrows and put lipstick on and im done.

Your videos are so accurate, i love it! Of course, this french makeup is going-out makeup, not every day makeup. Most people i know here in france will only wear skin makeup, if anything, on your regular day, and then toss on some mascara and lipstick at night. I have to admit, i really miss wearing fun eyeshadow because its 100% not a thing here. And i like that you caught onto the thin brows. Everyone has such thin brows here, but i can’t conform to that haha i love me some thick brows.

I'm french. We're doing our skin ( foundation, concealer...) but we like to stay discreet, and a lot of girl are students ( high school, college, and after) so we need to stay discreet as possible. If you want to see french girl with more makeup, go to nightclubs (if you go back to France) a lot of french girls wear some eyeliner, or some darker eyes shadows. One things I don't really like in the french makeup ( not in your's, a generality) is the lipstick. Yes it's nice but I think we need more nude lipstick because I rarely see some nude lipstick but your makeup is beautiful and you're beautiful ! 😍

Basically, in France, we’re really minimal on make-up (even more than what she presents). The comparison was interesting, I think in the UK they go more for the American side, so I know a lot of people who do wear that look on a regular basis. But I do prefer the French look - if only because it’s less of a hassle to do.
