How nice is John Jorgenson? I met John a few years back through the Gypsy Jazz circuit, and while I'm just a local enthusiast, he took the time to talk with me and share his ideas. Now a bunch of years go by and I played a gig where there were about 1,500 people. I was so stoked by it I wrote about the gig on my Face Book page. Guess what? John Jorgenson took the time to congratulate me on the gig! This coming from a man who that very same night was playing a massive stadium in Europe with Elton John. And he took the time to reach out to me! That's the kind of man John Jorgenson is -- a rare, thoughtful, wonderful musician and human being.

Absolutely love this. I met John around the same time. Backstage in Lynden WA at a Desert Rose Band concert, and he had a Matchless at the time. The hero said hi Forrest as he finished up soundcheck. (Dad had already talked to him) I was floored. So humble and open about his gear. Love him!

I met JJ at a guitar clinic several years ago. What everyone else says about what a great guy he is is true. I was a rank amateur but he still took time to talk to me about technique and his days with Desert Rose Band. Wow, what a group that was. They were amazing!

Lord have mercy! I just never knew Brad was listening to the same stuff I was back then. The Desert Rose Band ruled the radio waves for a minute in the 80’s, as did Rodney Crowell, who introduced some ripping country guitarists to the world, and still is. These dudes are responsible for countless goosebumps worldwide.

I saw Elton John perform in Camden, NJ. We were on the lawn, so our visual was via the screens. I said that sax player looks JUST like John Jorgenson, but that can't be him, he's a guitar player. Guess what. Do you realize how great a musician you have to be if Elton John wants you for his sax player and you're thought of mainly as a guitar player?

i was mesmerized by the Hellecasters and JJ in particular, as i grew up influenced by my grandpa's love of western swing, my dad's love of classic rock and my own teen years growing up in the EVH 80s. my amazing guitar playing friend says my style is "Van Waylon" and it's totally organic because of my influences, of whom JJ is major. (got my first very early Matchless, which was VERY hard to come by in OK back then, because of my admiration and love of tone) i actually met him at the hotel bar in about 1997-1998 (don't remember exactly) in Nashville. i just saw him and mentioned he was one of my biggest influences. i was just a 27 year old nobody from Oklahoma, but he was so nice and encouraging and told me some great stories. lifelong fan of the man.

Desert Rose Band, Capitol Music Hall Wheeling Jamboree. I was the house monitor engineer when Dessert Rose band played there and Brad was kid playing on the show. Brad played on the Jamboree USA a lot. I still have a Dessert Rose Band Sweat shirt in my closet from that day that they gave the local crew. I was very impressed by the DRB. But yep, I was there that that day and night and Brad was chasing him. Brads parents were always with him when he was on the show. Doug was either beside me at the monitor desk or at FOH with our house engineer at the time Bill Graham. No not THE Bill Graham famous promotor nor the reverend. the show.
