Yeonmi Park was born in North Korea. She was taught in school to hate the "American bastards" - she uses that term here as sort of sarcasm. Read her book, "In Order to Live". It is shocking to learn how people are living and what they are doing to survive right now. Yeonmi is a national treasure. We are lucky to have her as a fellow American.

Actually when i visited North Korea on a tour, a lot of the tour guides and students there speak very fluent English with American accent! The irony is crazy. Their understanding of the English language and grammar usage is way better than a lot of the guides in other parts of Asia, Europe and Latin America.
