Yoon Mirae was raised for part of her life in Texas. Her mother is Korean. Her dad is black American. She is amazing. She and her husband, Tiger JK, are called the godparents of Korean HipHop. Also, as an aside, if you start your Korean music journey with BTS, you are starting with gold. I wish you happy listening.

Neurons are nerve cells that move your body. J-Hope and the featured rappers are talking about the things that inspire them, gets them fired up and moving. Before joining BTS J-Hope was a hip-hop street dancer as a kid and now after 10 years with BTS he's going back to revisit the kind of dancing that first got him moving.

BTS are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, they started as a Hip-Hop group that morphed into the multi faceted group they are today. I’m senior Army (old enough to be these boys grandmother) I remember when Hip-Hop started , loved it until the late 80’s early 90’s, BTS brought me back into rapp. As you go down the BTS rabbit hole you will discover they are masters at what they do. They came to the US to study from US rappers, they constantly pay homage to the founders and greats of Rapp in their songs. They are known for their lyrics, their Rapp is poetry put to music. That is why Army encourages all new reactors to have the captions on for the lyrics. They talk about life, the word play and constant flow changes in a song is impeccable. RM (the leader) and Suga were underground rappers before joining BTS. The 3rd rapper JHOPE (dance leader)was a street dancer before joining the group. Neuron is his latest song. You should also listen to More by JHope you will be pleasantly surprised he put Rapp to rock. BTS is not the typical boy band, they broke the mole and created something new. They do multiple genres. Their production is top tier, they are all writers and producers. They also have the best behind the mic team of engineers, producers and song writers in SK they work with. They have earned the title Kings of KPOP with the biggest fandom in the world. Currently they are all serving mandatory duty in the SK army and will regroup in 2025 once their service has ended. Before they enlisted the members dropped individual solo albums that charted on the billboard 100 and 200 charts and is still charting. BTS is a true David vs Goliath story, because of their talent they turned a small nearly bankrupt company into a major conglomerate in SK right behind the likes of Samsung, LG and Kia. I look forward to watching your journey as you learn about BTS.

9:12 "Set the bar very high" - You have no idea. You started with one of the kings of K-pop. Although I think this isn't really K-pop in the way you're thinking of it, it's a hiphop track plain and simple but bc it's coming out of Korea it gets slapped with that very misunderstood label and reputation. BTS and all of it's 7 members are kings of their craft, whether it's hiphop/rap, pop, neo soul/r&b...choose a genre and they've done it and made it their own. Just like how there is pop coming out of the US/western countries that's formulaic there is definitely the same in K-pop but BTS and it's members have always been authentic and put the quality of their music and lyrics 1st and foremost.

j-hope has a song with J. Cole, too. On The Street. j-hope wrote it as an homage to his roots as a street dancer and to his muse in his rap career (J. Cole), and it also serves as a "goodbye for now" as he leased it shortly before he left to complete his mandatory military service. It's a very sentimental song with great old school, New York vibes. And it was really cool to see j-hope get to work on a song with the artist that inspired him to become the rapper he is today.

People who don't know BTS and have the boys as their first "K-pop" reaction get really excited that this is K-pop but this is BTS. They are a genre into themselves. K-pop is actually a pretty specific visual and auditory experience, and nothing like BTS and their solo works. They might have started within the K-pop industry, and have some of their songs which I'd consider K-pop, but they have outgrown it very fast and haven't looked back. Enjoyed your reaction and enthusiasm! Please check out more solo works from BTS guys as it's their most recent work while they are serving in the military. 💜

BTS is the biggest group in the world and one of the most successful artists. The group consists of 7 members (including 3 rappers and 4 vocalists) from South Korea. 1. RM ( rapper, leader ) September 12, 1994 - 29 years old 2. JIN ( vocalist ) December 4, 1992 - 31 years old 3. SUGA/AGUSTD ( rapper) March 9, 1993 - 31 years old 4. J-HOPE ( rapper) February 18, 1994 - 30 years old 5.JIMIN ( vocalist ) October 13, 1995 - 28 years old 6. V ( vocalist ) December 30, 1995 - 28 years old 7. JUNGKOOK ( vocalist ) September 1, 1997 - 26 years old They collaborated with a lot of artists such as: Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Juice WRLD, Wale, Lauv, Fall Out Boy, Warren G, Jason Derulo, Erykah Badu, Muni Long, Anderson .Paak, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Halsey, Becky G, MAX, J.Cole, NLE Choppa, Kodak Black, Desiigner, Coldplay, Lil Nas X, Charlie Puth, Usher...(+more) As a group BTS have a huge amount of songs 300+ (only 3 of their songs as a group are entirely in English). They are all songwriters and music producers, most of their work is very meaningful, so reading the lyrics is really important. They make music in a lot of different genres and styles (Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, EDM, Latin Pop, Ballad, ...+). Each of the members is very different, and all of them make their own solo stuff so depending on what kind of music you are interested in, you really have a lot to choose from. If you want to learn more about them, I highly recommend watching these videos, which I will link below: 1. So hard to choose but for the rap line I would suggest the following: - Agust D aka SUGA “Daechwita" or “The Last” or “Agust D” - RM “Wild Flower” or “Do You”…….maybe “Joke” which is very impressive but he literally did it to prove he could rap no matter the lyrics. Lol - J-Hope “More” or Arson” or “lock/ unlock” For all three Cypher 1-4, UGH, DDAENG, Outro: Tear All three have different styles of rap so prepare to enjoy the rabbit hole.

You may want to check out: BTS SONGS - Born Singer - Hip Hop Lover - Mic drop - On (kinetic MV) Rap Line - Outro:Tear - Cyphers 1 thru 4 - Ugh - Daeng - Run BTS (there’s also a song called Run which is also good - all their songs are actually. And there’s a variety show titled Run BTS, so make sure you’re looking at the right one. They sang Run BTS during their free concert in Busan. It’s on KZfaq. ) Each Rapper RM - Joke - Wild Flower - closer - Check out his solo albums - RM - Mono - Indigo Suga (aka Agust D) - the Trilogy: Daechwita, Haegeum, Amydala - Agust D - Shadow - Check out his three albums: - Agust D - D-2 - D-Day (has a documentary on Disney) Jhope - More - Arson - Pandoras Box - check out his albums - Hope World - Jack in the box (has a documentary on Disney) - Hope On the Street

All three of the BTS rappers are impressive! I suggest watching their music videos and turning on the english translation to understand the lyricsl Jhope: Daydream and Airplane from his mixtape Hope Word (yes that is a reference to Cole World), More and Arson from his album Jack in the Box, and his single On the Street featuring J Cole! SUGA aka AgustD: Agust-D and Give it to Me from his mixtape Agust-D, Daechwita from his mixtape D-2, and Haegeum, Amydala and People part 2 from his album D-Day RM: Joke and Do You from his mixtape RM, Seoul, Moonchild and Forever Rain from his album Mono, and Wildflower and Still Life from his album Indigo.

As other comments have said, it's always hilarious to see people think they're experiencing their first kpop song when they pick BTS or one of the members solo works when they're the most un-kpop group of all. There's many many reasons why they're the biggest international band out of that country, and infact the label "kpop" is practically used against them at this point. Glad yall checked this track out though and enjoyed it. Let us know the kind of genres/artists yall prefer and we'll recommend you based on that.

🧠💜🔥J-Hoooooope! So glad you started your BTS journey with a fun song like Neuron! Please do react to more BTS. They have so much amazing content and great performances and MV’s. I recommend some of their earlier group songs: We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2, Dope, Not Today, UGH!, IDOL, MIC DROP, ON Kinetic Manifesto. Watch their MV’s and then their live performances. Make sure to have the English subtitles turned on because their lyrics are always so meaningful.💜

KPOP is an industry, not a genre. The genres within KPOP are the same as their western counter parts; R&B, pop, traditional, hip hop, jazz, rock, alternative. JHope as an artist would be placed in the hip hop genre. Most westerners think music made by Idol bands or groups is the sum of Korean music which would equate to calling American music pop whether it's jazz, country, hip hop or hard rock. You just listened to a hip hop track.

This song and BTS in general as your intro to BTS is setting the bar in space... But IMO its impossible to compare groups because they are all so different.... Stray kids megaverse or lalala is really good, Ateez bouncy is good....RM( of bts) Still life, wildflower, Suga/AgustD( of bts) amygdala, Haegum... Also check out actually BTS as a whole group hiphop lover, We on.. ALSO there are lyric video and MVs that have lyrics i highly recommend you watch those instead of just listening to the tracks because BTS usually be saying some ish

More, More, More BTS PLEASE! They will surprise you. They are by no means your typical bubblegum boy group that we get in the U.S. Even though they flip between Korean and English...it doesn't matter. Good music breaks through language barriers, which is why they are the BIGGEST group in the world. Check out J-Hope's song "On the Street" ft J Cole. 💜

Enjoyed your reaction! Check out their lyrics. Def a 5. 🧠LOL. Thanks for the suggestion AMBER! Please don't assume BTS is KPOP! They started as a hiphop group then added vocals and choreo of Kpop at a time when that wasn't done. As a result they were shunned by hiphop (who thought they were sellouts) and Kpop (who thought they were too free to write their own stuff and not conform to their idol standards). So BTS said screw it, we'll do our own thing. And they did it well. Now Kpop try to emulate them, but still aren't allowed to write their own stuff 90%+ of the time. While BTS has some Uber Pop songs, it is a mere fraction of what they've done and not a representation of who they are. Here, JHOPE was returning to his roots of dancing. The MV has Eng Subs, just turn em on next time. YoongMarie is actually from TEXAS. Her dad is African American and mom is South Korean. She is huge in Korean underground HipHop. BTS Rapline has no misses fr! So fire! Just found you, so don't know what you like. BTS (and each member) does whatever style and genre fits the mood of what they want to say. No genre off limits. They are so fun and always versatile. They always change up flows and styles. Couple of things to recommend if you are open to trying it. First, I wanted to recommend Ddaeng and Ugh. Since someone mentioned Ugh below, I'll leave those links here. The first is a live performance with Eng Subs (these guys are always better live, its crazy). And the second is the DKDKtv explanation vid. PLEASE do it after. We will watch! These guys are about lyrics and some songs, especially with the rapline, need the explanation for so much we miss. But the gist is being angry about anger that flares up without purpose that causes harm to others but also being angry about anger that disappears when it needs to be present to make real change. UGH (live with Eng Subs): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kM6WgbaV1d7Od6s.htmlsi=xDKpfi3WIs4NIO-G UGH (explained): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eddjoaqa2pbDl30.htmlsi=6sVTFQ_mKVUdSpA0 Second, one of BTS's early songs is Born Singer. They wrote it back in 2013 just after debut on the beat of JCole's Born Sinner. Gives a good look at their mindset and just one of the ways they mix vocals with rap. This video is a fan fave and juxtaposes and early performance with one they did a few years later. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqtma72T0qrNj3U.htmlsi=ZCrCEW2U9U3MYcf2 In 2022 When JHope was headlining Lollapalloza in Chicago he met JCole and shortly after he gave them permission to include it on their anthology. So if you like it, feel free to watch this version after that one and see them do it 10 years later. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pa5kfL2onra9l58.htmlsi=p_6DddWGUch9u3l0 Hope you always enjoy your journey with whatever you are listening to. Life's too short to be unhappy with what you do. Peace. ✌

Hello! I am Amber Pearce 710 (long story short that account I don't have any more, so I created this one lol. I had to go back to some screen shots with that account to make sure it was me.). Thank you so much for reacting to Hobi (Jhope)! I am a BTS ARMY (fandom name). BTS have three rappers (RM, Jhope, and Suga/AgustD) & four vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook). They do write, compose, and/or produce their own music (they do have in-house producers like Pdogg). However, they have full control over their art. The rappers all have underground experience before BTS of some kind. RM and Suga did rapping (Suga also did producing) and Jhope was an undergound dancer (this song is off of his album & documentary on Prime abt street dance). BTS are different then a large portion of kpop bc of how hands on they are with their art. Most of their songs are written by them, especially the rappers. BTS came from a very small company that almost went bankrupt at one point. They have worked really hard to be where they are at right now. For recommendations that can be hard since I am such a big fan lol. Honestly the whole Hope of The Street album (the song was on that album) is soo good!! On this album he has a song called On The Street but solo version. The other version has JCole on it. Hobi is huge fan of JCole and he calls him his muse. BTS also did a rendition on JCole's song Born Sinner called Born Singer. They recently performed it on a Proof Live Performance but I prefer their 2015 or 2017 performances. (The proof live performance was like 2023 where they have already grown and accepted who they are). You might be really interested in that.... BTS also did a couple collabs with American Rappers: -Idol with Nick Minaji -Change by RM and Wale -Girl of My Dreams by Juice World ft. Suga of BTS -All Night by BTS ft. Juice World -Seoul Town by Lil Nas X ft. RM -Butter ft. Megan The Stallion -P.D.D by Warren G and RM BTS song recommendation: -Hip Pop Phile by BTS (it isn't a collab but they pay respect to those who influenced them & there are a lot of American rappers or albums they mention) -Mic Drop by BTS -War of Hormone -Dis-ease -Ugh live performance with cc (Enjoy BTS More channel) -Outro Tear Wembley stadium performance with cc (black outfits) -Arson by Jhope -Do You by RM (MV doesn't have cc unfortunately) -Wildflower by RM -May 10th RM is having a pre-rease MV for his coming album being released May 24th -Daewithca, Haegeum, Armygdala by Agust D (in this order-trilogy) (agus=suga backwards TD=Town Daegu, where he is from) -Standing Next To you by Jungkook -3d By Jungkook ft Jack Harlow -Love Me Again by V -Set Me Free pt. 2 by Jimin -Astronaut by Jin anyways sorry for so much info lol

This is definitely not like most kpop music haha (I do enjoy kpop but it's different). BTS work in a wide range of genres but their root is hip hop and they write their own music, so they stand apart from mainstream kpop style. You should check out their cover of J.Cole's Born Sinner called 'Born Singer', or their song 'Hip Hop Lover', both songs tell some of their story. They have great live performances too! If you like Yoonmirae, she has another collab with a BTS member: BukuBuku by MFBTY (ft. RM) If you like Gaeko he also has a collab with RM called Gajah. And if you like artists that can dance, oh man... you're gonna have fun with BTS those boys can DANCE! You could react to 'Run BTS' Dance Practice from 2022 to get a taste (they have an older song called Run so don't get confused).

Others have given you some good info but please understand that there is no genre called k-pop. It’s an industry but those western industry’s aim to gatekeep their space by trying to classify it as a genre. We don’t call is US-Pop or UK-pop. Suggest you check out the other rappers in BTS in RM - Still Life is one of my fav songs from him from his last album Indigo and it’s a collaboration with Anderson Paak from Silk Sonic. For Suga who goes by the stage name Agust D for his solo work, maybe start off with Daechwita. They do have subtitles on pretty much all their MVs but Korean is such a rich language and all three of the rappers in BTS play with language in such inventive ways that we spend days deep diving after a release on the meanings. For this one of the best sites is Doolset Bangtan as they provide a lot of context of the cultural explanations behind their word choices and dual and sometimes triple meanings in their verses. Welcome to the rabbit hole!
