We are visiting one of Poland's most desired destinations and capital of Poland: Warsaw. We stop at the famous Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki/Pałac Młodzieży), ride our bikes through Park Saski, visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Old Town, Zygmunt's Column (Kolumna Zygmunta), The Royal Castle and the White House. We are so enjoying your videos. We were lucky enough to visit Poland and stayed in the sofitel old Soviet hotel on the square. We visited the memorial every day. Good to see your hubby on the other side of the camera. My dad retired from the Air Force and my husband served. We know what that life is like. I loved growing up seeing so many places! Please keep the closed kitchen videos coming although we love the cooking videos too.

So much fun having lunch together. Even though I watched at 9am. The outtakes sounded like a second sip of bourbon was had…… LOL. Funny that when the beer bourbon pour started I thought it was a KZfaq commercial and was looking for the skip ad….great video … it’s like hanging out with old friends…

About the bricks, my father-in-law used to say, "Next people not from Warsaw will say Bemowo, Bielany, Ursynów etc. is also built from these bricks" ;) (Tongue-in-cheek)

I really enjoy your Friday episodes and appreciate all the work and research you put into it. Your Zurek looked wonderful, Mark and I could definitely hear the crispness of the crusty bread but I am sure it doesn’t compare to Anna’s. An ice cube maker while camping is a fantastic idea! Warsaw looks very beautiful and it’s amazing that it was rebuilt to its original layout and architectural design.

Really enjoyed that, I was in Warsaw in January 1991 right after they were independent from the Soviet Union. I’m pretty sure the large building you see behind the guards at the tomb was the hotel we stayed in, can’t remember the name. Old town and the castle still look the same. Would love to go back

Thank you for your videos. Your rant from the bench explaining the different types of "Vegetablists"(vegetableists? I never won a prize for spelling) was precious I will cherish that one. Being Polish and visiting and traveling around Polska many a time I am amazed at the sites you kindly take us on a tour of and explain to us...i simply missed out on a bunch load of goodies Polska and now Warszawa has to offer. You guys super ROCK!!

I can remember being at the Zamek in '76 and being able to look over the ruins to the Wisla. I was amazed to see the Zamek rebuilt when we visited in 2017.

I forgot something. I just watched the Seinfeld episode when Elaine convinces Jerry to get rid of his wallet and replace it with a European Satchel. After someone stole it he called it a purse because no one understood what a satchel was. Jerry started carrying it because sitting on his wallet was hurting his back. Funny episode

"Youth palace"is just one side of it.There were clubs and sections for kids and teens-art,science,sport ,education etc.It still works,I believe.

Great video! We went to Warsaw for an extended weekend in 2019 and was totally stunned by the city, both the old town and the rest. The best was the food, found some great restaurants. And... when coming home we found Polish Your Kitchen! Really nice to see it again, can't wait to go back.

uhh I'm curiositied, love your footage of the old town square. All those apartement looking buildings are they mainly offices or do people actually live in them? I assume you'd have to be a tourist, crowd loving millionaire to get into one, or like parts of New York (i think) they are handed down the generations father to son type a deal. would be interesting to wake up late on a Saturday opening your curtains and be an exhibit to a thousand tourists piled into your courtyard. If a Warszawiak sees this please let me know. Dzienkuje.

I grew up in Warsaw and never heard anyone calling Pałac Kultury Stalin's penis. Maybe they do now ... like it or hate it, it is and will be a major Warsaw landmark, just like The Chrysler building or The Trump tower in New York. I know that they try to get rid of all names associated with communism but Pałac Kultury i Nauki sounds better (in Polish) than Pałac Młodzieży.

It was also know as the 7th Ugly Sister. It matches the 6 Ugly Sisters in Moscow. Stalin called it a gift, but the Soviet Union took huge sums of money out of the Polish Treasury to pay for it... Twice!

It’s a good video. Mark’s narration provides plenty interesting information about Polish history. I like it, but I would like it more if Mark had said in it that it was Germans who invaded Poland and destroyed Warsaw, not Nazis. The Wehrmacht was a military arm of German state, not the Nazi party and only 31% of Wehrmacht officers were the Nazi party members. I’m sure Mark would not say that Republicans invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, or that Democrats invaded Vietnam. Nowadays, the ‘Nazi’ label is used as a weapon to discredit political opponents in many countries and it gradually becomes less and less identified with Germany. It’s not a joke, but some Germans claim that Germany was the first country invaded by Nazis (!?) German propaganda machine is working hard on taking responsibility of Germany for the WW2 aggression and war crimes. The term, ‘Polish death camps’ is a German propaganda fabrication created for this purpose.

I love Warsaw and have a load of great times in the old square. But what’s with the Czech beer when there are loads of good Polish beers like Warka, Perła or Tyskie? 😆 Nah. Staropramen is brilliant I guess.

I was in Warsaw in May 2013. Many, many more people on the streets, including gypsies (Romany). You did not talk about the people of Warsaw saving artwork from the Palace. And Stalin's .... is a dead giveaway for where you were. Warsaw still has too many ugly Soviet buildings.

@@markhurning8051 He didn't put it in a nice way but this is true, from what I remember (and I'm not that old) no Polish soup was served in a bread bowl, we just wouldn't waste a loaf of bread to make a bowl out of it. But I also remember that żurek was served with a slice or two of good Polish bread, as you eat it you'd dip the bread in żurek, so yummy so good so filling. So serving żurek in modern Polish cuisine in a bread bowl makes sense as they go together very well. BTY, the żurek looks so good that it made me hungry and homesick.

@@katarzyna4667 Dziwna rzecz. Odwołuję się do obyczaju polskiego. Co tu wolność ma do rzeczy? To jest dobre cudzoziemców informować o takich rzeczach, bo w niektórych rejonach Polski mógłby się poczuć nieswojo jeśli trafiłby się obok jakis "tradycjonalista" i z niechęcia na niego spoglądał. Uważasz, że ze względu "poczucia wolności" też mógłby np. chodzić w cudzym domu w butach?

@@SENSEOFLIBERTY Myślę, że zgodnie z dobrym polskim obyczajem możemy pozwolić gościom czuć się u nas jak u siebie w domu. Nie wymagajmy od nich, aby zachowywali się jak (niektórzy ) Polacy. Niech pozostaną sobą. Ponadto, tego typu uwagi można zwracać (swoim) dzieciom. Obcym dorosłym nie wypada. Bardzo nieprzyjemnie się je czyta.

@@katarzyna4667 Proszę jeszcze raz uważnie przeczytać, co napisałem. Uważnie. Ten Pan nie ma na czole napisane "NIE JESTEM Z POLSKI". W moim komentarzu nie było niczego nieprzyjemnego. Pani opacznie musiała zrozumieć moje intencje. W Polsce wielu ludzi uważa brak ściągnięcia czapki podczas jedzenia za brak kultury osobistej. A to czy w jakiś sposób na taki widok zareagują, to już zupełnie inne zagadnienie. W większym skupisku ludzi, na większa odległość, wielu nie będzie sobie zadawało pytań czy to obcy, przyjezdny itp. Po prostu spojrzy, pomyśli z przyzwyczajenia to, co pomyśli i wtedy Pani uwagi nie mają żadnego zastosowania.
