Toronto is actually hot af! in summer. And yes, Ice Wine is awesome. I'm more a single malt drinker, but love this Canadian wine...expensive though for very little and low abv.

You said of things in northern Canada that, "it is so hard to get it up there." Stats would suggest otherwise. The birth rate in northern Canada is higher than in the south. 😅

To answer your question about Alert, it's primarily a science station and military base. Alert as in to give first alert of incoming attack.

a) lived all my life in Canada - with cactus, rattlensakes, sagebrush, tumbleweed and scorpions. No, we are not all frozen wasteland b) The American version of poutine is called disco fries c) Canada is always closed on hockey nights 😅 especially during the playoffs

The countries of the Commonwealth including Canada, Australia, NZ, etc. have the British monarch as the head of state. The monarch's representative in those countries is called the Governor-General. When these countries stopped being British colonies they CHOSE to keep the monarch as the head of state rather than becoming a republic with a president. There are some advantages to this as the head of state is politically neutral rather than the USA president who is definitely not politically neutral.

Canada = pineapple on pizza. Sorry pineapple doesn't belong on pizza. And I would like to know why. People like it

Because it is yummy and does belong on a pizza. The teal debate is if seafood should be on pizza, and I say no.

I would say anybody who likes pinapple, other than vegitarians, will love the Hawaiian pizza. I don't like pineapple and would even pick it out of fruit cocktail. The thought pineapple on a pizza was revolting to me. But there came a time at a friends place I eat it or go hungry as that's what he ordered just before I got there. I picked a few pieces off and took a bite and realized the taste of the pinapple was still there. But combination of sweet with the spicy pizza sauce and was surprisingly tasty. I didn't bother picking the rest of the pinapple off and 40 years later pizza is still the only way I ever eat pineapple. It was actually the only pizza my two kids would eat until they were well into their teens. I have since expanded on the traditional ham and pinapple adding pepperoni and green peppers to it. That's a new favorite, sweet and spicy, alternating with my old favorite pepperoni, salami, onion, and green peppers. There's been a few things with food I thought was a weird combo that actually turned out quite tasty. All I can say is, don't knock it till you try it.
