Both Baahubali senior and Baahubali junior was played by the same actor. And the movie established that he looks exactly same as his dad. That's why some people recognized him because he has the same face as his dad.

bahubali means Power of 1000 hands , there is a king in hindu mythology called Sahastra bahubali (he has power of 1000 hands )

Let's clear this one out. There are 3 generations to look out for, Bahu's father, Bahu and Bahu Junior. Bahu's father dies during the war and his mom dies during labor. So his aunt Shivagami(the one at the beginning of the movie with the arrow on her back) will raise him as if he was her own son. As she was the wife of the King's Brother (the cripple who was unfit to rule), she took on the role of queen mother to keep the kingdom intact. The chained one is Bahu's wife, and the evil king is Bahu's cousin (Bhalla- the son of the cripple, Bijjala). The evil king chains Bahu's wife for choosing Bahu over him. Family tree Bahu's father(Vikramadev) and Mother (both dead) Vikramadev's Elder brother(Bijjaldev, crippled) and Shivagami Bahu and Devasena(The Chained One) The Evil King Bhallaladev Bahu Junior(the kid at the beginning of the movie) The Evil KIng's Son(one who gets beheaded) Hope that cleared it!

OMG !! you are so much confused! Brief of the story for you ! The handicap(Bijjaladeva) and Amarendar Bahubali's dad was brothers, Bijjaladeva was the elder brother but he didn't get the kingdom. Amarendar Bahubali's dad got the kingdom instead. Sivagam is the Bijjaladeva's wife. Since both the king and queen died, she raise both Amarendar Bahubali the actual king's son and Bhallaldev son of Bijjaladeva's. The child in the starting of the movie is Amarendar Bahubali's son, just looking like his father. His name also ends with Bahubali, you will see the rest of the story in the second part ! It was Amarendar Bahubali's wife, who was tied with chains for 25 years. Enjoy !! 👍👍👍

**Must read** look there were two brothers elder one was cripple and not eligible to be a king the younger brother became king. king had a son named Bahubali I. but unfortunately the king and the queen died so bahubali I became an orphan. then because there we no king left so that crippled guy's wife(shivgami) became queen mother she already had a son Bhalaldev(bad guy) but she raised Bahubali I as well. Then Bahubali I became king and married Devsena(who was kept captive for 25 year) They had a son Bahubali II (guy who climbed the mountain) The issue was that the crippled guy or bad guys's(Bhalaldev's) father or Bahubali I's uncle used to think that he has always been discriminated even though he was elder brother he didn't become king. when his younger brother died still he not became a king but his wife became Queen mother so now he wanted his son Bhalaldev (or the bad guy) to became the King however possible. so when Bahubali I became a king they both planned to kill him. now when queen mother found out she announced baby Bahubali II The king. then bad guy tried to kill the baby. So queen mother saved the baby. which you have seen in the opening scene. So everyone thought that the bahubali II was dead that is why Katapa served the bad guy. I tried to tell you the story without giving you spoilers from the 2nd movie. rest you will know when you watch the other movies.

The Queen calls Bahubali son because in India we say brother and sister to cousins also. Similarly our cousin's mother or father call us son

She was sister-in-law for the king who died before his sons birth. So at that time she is not queen mother. But kattappa explaining story to present generation's bahubali so he addressing her as 'Raajmaata' which roughly translates as Queen mother in English. (Old kings Picture shown in the movie and Amarendra Baahubali and His son Mahendra Baahubali(shiva) looks Identical(played by same person). That's What Causes the Confusion)

Guys FYI this movie is based on historical story related to Jainism. Jainism is a religion that flourished in India around 1000BC-0BC. Jainism & Buddhism were the dominant religions of that time. Later they were taken over by other religions, but still some people follow it. There is actually statue of Baahubali (a monolithic statue) about the size of Statue of liberty on a Mountain in India. He is still worshiped by Jains as a god. The story goes that there was this cruel king who was ruling at that time, the people didn't like & they were suffering. And Baahubali fought with him & killed him. So this event is commemorated with the statue, which even shows the scars he got during the fight.. So that is the inspiration, but I don't know if remaining events and details are accurate. It may have been modified so that it is interesting to watch for general audience.

I would like to say though that there is a difference between having a running commentary that's natural for a reaction, in fact it's probably expected, and talking too much to the point of actually being distracted and not getting into the film enough to understand what's going on. Hence that's why I think Hugo was lost for a good chunk of this. Then again i would rather you talk than not talk at all, so just take that observation for what it is. Honestly I think it would have been better to just pause and have the girls explain it to him, so he wouldn't be lost for majority of the flashback.

If I remember, the main King have 2 children. There are two brothers, the older one is handicapped, the younger one is made the king because he had a kind heart. The King (the younger brother) passed, his wife gave birth to Amrendra Bahubali but died after giving birth, the older brother who is handicapped has a wife called Shivgami, she protects the thorne from any outsider or non royal blood trying to grab the seat after the death of the king, godmother shivgami has a son called Bhalaldev(power hungry), but she says both the babies are now my sons, and both have the right to become the king. Generation 2: 😅😂 In the second generation, Amrendra Bahubali married a princes called Devsena, the son of Amrendra Bahubali is called Mahendra bahubali who looks exactly like him, there have been many movies in india with that weird concept that both the father and the son are played by the same actor😅. The Son of Bhalaldev (Amrendra's cousin) is called Bhadrudu who's head goes on a toss. Kattappa who works for the king or the godmother is called uncle by Amrendra Bahubali and becomes like a godfather to Mahendra Bahubali. For understanding the romance w atch a v ideo by soch by mohak mangal on what is w rong with telugu films 😅😁 There is a lot of illogical action too but that has always been a thing in south indian films. Let me know if you have any other doubts😂 There were multiple goosebumps moments for me while watching the film I think it can only happen when watched in theaters especially the shiv ling scene and the interval scene. The theater effect is very necessary for this movie with the audience hooting and whistling.

Bhallas father and bahubali father are both brothers. But bhallas father was not given the throne because of his bad qualities, instead his brother was made King. And bhallas father married shivgami ( queen mother) . Bahubali father dies, so they were looking for a king at that time. Bahubali's mom died after giving birth to Bahubali. So bahubali has no parents. So shivgami raised his own son bhalla and raised bahubali too. Because, bhallas father was not crowned as king during that time.. he wants his son bhalla to be king at any cost. So he doesn't like bahubali. Then bahubali gets married to devasena ( from another kingdom) and they have a baby ( who is called as Shiva by the tribe at the starting of the movie) he look exactly same as his father. Hope you understand it now

Well katappa is not slave that head of clan just said in different context that it is like that as it was a promise made by forefathers that they will serve the throne but they are no more but kattapa says but the promise is still alive or there.

Bahubali's father despite being younger was choosen as king because of the deceiving nature of the elder brother and his disability. The younger brother dies and the queen(bahubali's mom) also dies giving birth to him. The queen mother who we see is the elder sister in law of the king so it means she is the wife of the elder brother who was passed for the throne . We see the queen mother who had also given birth some time before and she took care of the kingdom and both her own son and bahubali.
