There are 11 rings in the SEA games logo that represent the 11 participating countries of South East Asia. SEAG is a biennial (every 2 years) multi-purpose event that will be participated by the 11 SEA countries.

The one hosted by Indonesia was the Asian Games (for the whole of Asia). This one hosted by the Philippines was for the Southeast Asian Games (limited to Southeast Asia) or members of the ASEAN nations (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). The Asian games is a much bigger affair than the SEA Games.
