We have “dull” flavours in the UK because our taste buds aren’t ruined with salt and sugar by the time we’re 5. That’s why Americans think our food is bland. To us it’s got flavour.

Watching this man brutality open each packet of crisps gives me anxiety.

The Hula Hoops were barbecue beef flavoured, so are supposed to taste like beef that has been barbecued, not barbecue sauce. The Nice’n’Spicy Nik Naks like with many things produced in the UK with the word spicy in the name or description, just means that it’s flavoured with spices and not necessarily a description of chilli type heat as they have been around since before saying something is spicy became synonymous chilli heat. Salt’n’Shake are a throwback to time before the manufacturers added the salt (which is why our crisps with salt on them are called Ready Salted because they already have the salt added)…which obviously predates when crisps were flavoured. But they are fun for kids (especially as they generally end up with less salt) and are also beneficial to people who can have little or no salt added to their diet. No, ketchup is not ‘spicy’ but as I said before spicy doesn’t necessarily mean heat in the UK, that’s why they can seem to have more flavour because they aren’t just throwing so much heat at it to numb you to any other element, it’s just a blend of spices that’s used. Frazzles have been a favourite for decades. When I was a kid in the 70’s and 80’s and we got taken to the pub on a sunny day to sit out in the Beer Garden, it’d be a half pint of either coke or lemonade and a bag of Frazzles that everyone would be asking for…and if I’m not mistaken Frazzles are in actual fact vegetarian.

I was always confused when americans say our food in general tastes bland, as mentioned our crisps. After trying a lot of American foods, and crisps in general I can see why they think this. The crisps are so over the top in your face flavour you can't even taste the potato, much prefer the Brit crisps :)

The flaming hot crunchy wosits are my favourite. They recently released and extra hot version which to be honest is a little too much for me but they are also kind of addictive.

how would you know what sweaty balls smell like? the Smiths salt n shake crisps first came out in a paper packet, which were sold around London back in 1920 and were the first to sell seasoned crisps commercially, the Smiths brand can still be found in the UK and Australia... with over 30 flavors... skips are made from Tapioca and Maize many of the crisps you tried were made for kids, in the UK we dont over flavor crisps made for kids... Tangy toms is one of them, they were tomato flavor hense the name tangy toms...

In the UK we do like hot, we are a nation of curry eaters, it's just crisps ARE for kids and if they WERE really hot people would only buy them once to try them, it's best to call something "flaming hot" and make it sellable/palatable to the majority with THEM thinking they're awesome for being able to eat them. if adults want a hotter crisp then we just chilli powder and shake just like the salt and shake👍
