The fact that AleXa got 654 out of 660 possible in the public vote… that means she has to have ranked 1st in at least 52 states/territories. (EDIT: I redid the math for better accuracy. If Oklahoma vote counts, AleXa still ranked 1st in at least 47 out of all 56 states/territories) 🚨ALEXA WILL PERFORM ON THE BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS THIS SUNDAY. I’m glad that the public voted fairly because the jury were very harsh towards Alexa. I think they knew she was the one to beat and felt threatened so it makes sense that places like the lower south gave her 1 point…

Gotta think that’s probably a really cool moment for Kelly since she knows exactly how Alexa feels having won not only American Idol, but also to be the first winner. So glad the jury votes didn’t count for much Alexa was amazing. Every week she got better. Been listening to her for 2 years now and I’m so excited for her to get all this exposure. She deserves it.

The thing is, AleXa is not that popular in the grand scheme of kpop. Meaning, she didn’t get those votes from millions of obsessive fans. She got those votes because people watched the show, loved her performance, and voted for her! Not just from a fandom mass voting !! Which makes it even more impressive

I love Grant Knoche on Mr.Independent. I enjoy AmricanMamoa on Full Circle. I like Michael Bolton too. North Dakota was not that good. Washingston was a so so. Ni/Co was way too overrated. Tennessee was boring. I prefered some other countries' songs : 《For the Grand Final Round》 - Montana - Sweet Taboo - Locco - The Black guy from Semi.

Cry in her clip and now cry again. Def a historical moment. 1st Korean American of kpop made it to U.S mainstream. Don't need to be her fan to know she worked so hard, so much commitment, love, sweat and tears. So happy, proud and emotional. I knew it will be a hit song when I heard it 👏👏 the choreo, ☄ Akexa. Billboard stage will be on fire

As a European who's watching Eurovision since 2016, I gotta say this was a pleasing surprise to find out there is an American version of this contest, Alexa was amazing! The whole show was and I'm very happy about how well it turned out for first ever ASC, I hope there will be another one in the future!

This is not JUST a bow, it is a fucking kowtow - which in the Asian culture is A LOT, and I mean A FUCKING LOT!!!!!!!!!!! They do that ONLY for their parrents and ancestors, So, I was pretty blown away when she did that. It shows how humble she is, despite the success. I hope she stays true to herself always. Much respect to her talent and dedication. For me, Michael Bolton was the winner and the GOAT and he shouldn't have even been there, but on popularity and performance note - AleXa won by a landslide.

50대 한국사람의 한명인 제가 알렉사 뉴스보고 여기 저기 둘러보다 이렇게 풀에피소드를 보게 되었는데... 소감을 좀 쓰려합니다. 제가 10대 20대시절 미국이 주도하는 서양팝의 전성시대를 겪었고 지금 현재 케이팝이 전세계에서 인기를 누리는것을 보는 와중에... 이번 미국 다른참가자들의 공연도 보게 되었는데... 노래도 좋고 가창력도 훌륭하다 생각하지만 먼가 올드하다란 느낌을 받게 되네요 마치 80년대 90년대 2000년대 초반을 벗어나지 못하는듯한 느낌 제입장에선 먼가 향수를 느끼는 ㅋ 근데 요즘 흔하게 느끼는 트렌드에서는 약간 벗어난?... 알렉사 공연을 봤을때 ㅋㅋㅋ 비로소 2022년 현재에 있는듯한 느낌을 받았네요 마지막 전문가 패널 픽 상위입상자들이 오히려 미국에서도 대중들에게는 큰 지지를 받지못하는것을 보고 미국팝음악계의 정체도 보이는듯 하는... 알렉사 양이 미국 오디션프로에서 1등한것에 대해 정말 정말 축하드리며 앞으로 전세계에서도 사랑받는 K-POP 가수가 되기를 진심으로 응원합니다!

So you want actual artists who win a song contest ? Majority of these people are indie artist….they write their songs and are not signed to a company

@@jeffrey7737 A lot of kpop artists write their own songs...and in kpop, idols signed to small companies have to work 10× harder for success, and a lot of them are involved in making their own music and choreography. Not every kpop idol is living with the privilege of a major company backing them. Kelly was literally already signed to a label when she was in American Idol so I don't see a difference.

Even if you were rooting for the other contestants (because they are amazing), be happy for their exposure and how amazing is it that in an AMERICAN contest, we have the most adorable Asian poc to win. So happy for Alexa!!

From a UK Eurovision fan: Nice job America running the ASC for the first time! Great songs, great attitude, Kelly and Snoop were an adorable odd couple and I enjoyed the postcards showing the different characteristics of all the states and territories. If you're running this again though, can you please rethink the scheduling? This has run deep into Eurovision season and it's been a distraction trying to keep up with both. If the ASC moved to August/September then we can have this to look forward to, getting over our post-Eurovision blues (that's a thing!) It'd also offer more chances to cross-promote both contests and we'd all benefit. Congratulations to your very deserving winner!

@@tonytran9538 but the song she didn't write it and the dance she didn't create it point is very valid 😂....most of the artists in that competition are Indie artists unsigned no money....Alexa is a signed artist....yes let's compare a 25 year old Alexa to 69 year old Micheal Bolton who isn't signed....I'm sure majority of the viewers knew who Micheal Bolton was and listen to his music.....yeah a song contest where she didn't write the song not produced it....the company even took it from reggaeton

VPN's are now free - combined with many European IP provider free-calling routers, 4 phone plugs & doped looping, a small group of people can massively sabotage a song contest. From Western Europe, my calls are free & unlimited to all of North America, Europe, Australia & New Zealand. Were the vote numbers for Alexa legit???

For those offended by the results, this is not about merit ofc and its okay, it is a popular contest and rightfully Alexa won by having great supporters all the luck for her in her career. Of course, Celine won Eurovision for Switzerland! (singing in French) I've no complaints about this result - Alexa is a very good entertainer with superb stage prescence. I think she's set a nice high bar for future American Song Contests.

CHUNG HA no podría participar porque nació en Corea y solo vivió 8 años en Texas, no es realmente estadounidense, en cambio me imagino que JESSI si podría participar, ella si nació en Queens, Nueva York y vivió allí hasta los 15 años, antes de mudarse a Corea... Que yo sepa con tener nacionalidad Americana y haber vivido allí por cierta cantidad de tiempo calificas para presentarte a representar a tu estado, solo falta que te escojan. Alexa winning ASC, I think, just proves how much "the industry" is behind the times now. The jury was WAY off base with what the public actually wants to listen to and that's exactly why the Grammys are irrelevant these days.

For real - like do these huge western labels think that we're going to continue to accept mediocre songs from mediocre talent (that gets no training/support other than what the artist themselves can spring for) and absolutely appallingly crappy packaging and merch? Grammys has been irrelevant for ages now, and the sheer fact that they continue to shut out extremely popular and relevant groups/singers into a generic 'world' category (if even that) is pathetic beyond anything else.

Here are the results from my French votes: Oklahoma 12 Texas 10 Washington 8 Tennessee 7 Colorado 6 N Dakota 5 American Samoa 4 Alabama 3 Kentucky 2 Connecticut 1 The stakes are set too high for the next editions after AleXa's win. I cannot wait to see how it all holds up next year. I think they should stick to this voting system that is far better than the one in the Eurovision since the jury doesn't have much power over the public vote
