I'm a wildlife biologist in an area with pronghorn and one change we've started doing with older barbed wire fences is replacing the typical 4 wire fence with a 3 wire setup that has a smooth wire on the bottom. It still works to keep cows out and is far more pronghorn friendly! Great video as always.

When I was a child my mom used to care/rehabilitate ferrets and weasels, I learned quickly that ferrets truly are the clowns of the animal kingdom. I knew they were predators but I didn’t actually grasp at how much of a predator they were until one day a massive rat twice the size of my smallest ferret got inside and lets just say the rat got rekt. I had never seen something that was so small, so cute and so friendly and silly ravage another animal to this extent...Would love to see a tier list of both wild and domestic ferrets/weasels/minks etc :)

Last year I had a job surveying birds in the short grass prairies of Colorado. Pronghorns were pretty common and were very curious, I think largely because they knew they were far faster than anything else out there. They would come up pretty close behind me and make a weird and loud bark / grunt noise which could be quite startling! Upon turning around they’d sprint a little bit away and then stop and stare at me as if they were trying to taunt me because they knew I couldn’t catch them! Very cool animals - I’m glad they are getting some love as I feel they’re very under appreciated!

I’d really like to see a video on the ratites. Despite facing similar problems wherever they live, like the struggle of nesting on the ground, they all face different challenges depending on their specific environment. In particular cassowaries and emus are often praised as ranking above the rest of their family. I think an appropriate title would be something like “Are all ratites low tier?” as I think it’s unfair to lump them all into F tier.
@maj84
@maj84 11 ай бұрын
I think the ratites get a bad wrap bc of their extreme vulnerability to neck strikes. Also their struggle with lateral movement is a huge barrier . Any medium sized predator build worth its salt could easily take down a ratite despite the risk of a kick.

Love when new Tierzoo videos come out :3 Just a minor correction, pronghorns arent in the giraffe family, they're the only living members of antilocapridae. The closest relatives to this family is indeed the giraffidae so you are correct they're more closely related to giraffes than antelopes and other ruminants, but antilocaprids are not actually within the giraffe family itself Giraffa is also a genus, Okapia is the genus for okapi and both are in giraffidae.
@indyreno2933
@indyreno2933 11 ай бұрын
You should know that both families Antilocapridae and Giraffidae belong to the superfamily Giraffoidea, also, ruminants are actually an informal group because bovids, deer, giraffes, okapis, and pronghorns are all more closely related to camels than they are to chevrotains, water deer, and musk deer.

@@indyreno2933Antilocapridae is currently not included in Giraffoidea. Both Giraffoids and pronghorns are included in the infraorder Pecora, with pronghorns not being assigned to any superfamilty. Ruminants are not an informal group either, the taxonomy of Tragulina is still debated but if they aren't ruminants they can simply be excluded from the taxon to keep it's validity.

@matyaskassay4346, actually, ruminants are an informal group, they are informal because they are paraphyletic as tylopods are descended from ruminants, also, the pronghorn actually does belong to the superfamily Giraffoidea, making the giraffids the closest living relatives of the pronghorn, in fact, Antilocapridae is the youngest family in the Giraffoidea superfamily, Giraffoidea is actually the most basal extant superfamily of pecorans, in fact, there are officially 9 extant superfamilies of even-toed hoofed mammals: Traguloidea, Moschoidea, Giraffoidea, Cervoidea, Bovoidea, Cameloidea, Tayassuoidea, Suoidea, and Hippopotamoidea, Traguloidea contains one extant family: Tragulidae (Chevrotains), Moschoidea contains two extant families: Hydropotidae (Water Deer) and Moschidae (Musk Deer), Giraffoidea contains two extant families: Giraffidae (Giraffes and Okapi) and Antilocapridae (Pronghorn), Cervoidea contains one extant family: Cervidae (Deer), Bovoidea contains one extant family: Bovidae (Bovids), Cameloidea contains one extant family: Camelidae (Camels), Tayassuoidea contains one extant family: Tayassuidae (Peccaries), Suoidea contains one extant family: Suidae (Pigs), and Hippopotamoidea contains one extant family: Hippopotamidae (Hippos), this is the even-toed hoofed mammal taxonomy as officially recognized: List of even-toed hoofed mammal families: 1) Tragulidae (contains 4 genera: Moschiola, Hyemoschus, Muselaphus, and Tragulus) 2) Hydropotidae (contains 1 genus: Hydropotes) 3) Moschidae (contains 1 genus: Moschus) 4) Antilocapridae (contains 1 genus: Antilocapra) 5) Giraffidae (contains 2 genera: Okapia and Giraffa) 6) Cervidae (contains 20 genera: Odocoileus, Mazama, Pudu, Blastocerus, Ozotoceros, Hippocamelus, Elaphodus, Muntiacus, Rangifer, Dama, Axis, Hyelaphus, Ocellelaphus, Capreolus, Alces, Rucervus, Rusa, Cervus, Elaphurus, and Przewalskium) 7) Bovidae (contains 72 genera: Arabitragus, Nilgiritragus, Hemitragus, Rupicapra, Capricornis, Naemorhedus, Oreamnos, Budorcas, Ovibos, Hippotragus, Addax, Oryx, Beatragus, Damaliscus, Elaphops, Alcelaphus, Connochaetes, Pelea, Kobus, Adenota, Onotragus, Redunca, Tetracerus, Boselaphus, Tragelaphus, Bongo, Nyala, Strepsiceros, Taurotragus, Pseudoryx, Anoa, Bubalus, Syncerus, Bibos, Bos, Poephagus, Bison, Ammotragus, Pseudois, Ovis, Brachyceros, Aegoceros, Capra, Procapra, Trachelocele, Gazella, Tarandrovis, Eudorcas, Nanger, Ammodorcas, Litocranius, Pantholops, Saiga, Antilope, Antidorcas, Aepyceros, Sylvicapra, Cyanotragus, Philantomba, Balantelaphus, Merycotigris, Cephalophus, Eucephalophus, Neocephalophus, Raphicerus, Parvovis, Ourebia, Dorcatragus, Oreotragus, Nesotragus, Neotragus, and Madoqua) 8) Camelidae (contains 4 genera: Vicugna, Lama, Camelus, and Oreocamelus) 9) Tayassuidae (contains 3 genera: Parachoerus, Dicotyles, and Tayassu) 10) Suidae (contains 8 genera: Porcula, Sus, Chaetorhinus, Babyrousa, Verrucophorus, Potamochoerus, Hylochoerus, and Phacochoerus) 11) Hippopotamidae (contains 2 genera: Choeropsis and Hippopotamus) List of even-toed hoofed mammal superfamilies: 1) Traguloidea (contains 1 family: Tragulidae) 2) Moschoidea (contains 2 families: Hydropotidae and Moschidae) 3) Giraffoidea (contains 2 families: Antilocapridae and Giraffidae) 4) Cervoidea (contains 1 family: Cervidae) 5) Bovoidea (contains 1 family: Bovidae) 6) Cameloidea (contains 1 family: Camelidae) 7) Tayassuoidea (contains 1 family: Tayassuidae) 8) Suoidea (contains 1 family: Suidae) 9) Hippopotamoidea (contains 1 family: Hippopotamidae) List of even-toed hoofed mammal infraorders: 1) Tragulina (contains 1 family: Tragulidae) 2) Ceratodonta (contains 2 families: Hydropotidae and Moschidae) 3) Pecora (contains 4 families: Antilocapridae, Giraffidae, Cervidae, and Bovidae) 4) Tylopoda (contains 1 family: Camelidae) 5) Suina (contains 2 families: Tayassuidae and Suidae) 6) Ancodonta (contains 1 family: Hippopotamidae) List of even-toed hoofed mammal suborders: 1) Selenodontia (contains 8 families: Tragulidae, Hydropotidae, Moschidae, Antilocapridae, Giraffidae, Cervidae, Bovidae, and Camelidae) 2) Bunodontia (contains 3 families: Tayassuidae, Suidae, and Hippopotamidae)

I really think a video on the Golden Eagle character skill tree would make for a great video. Rather than being particularly great in one skill spread they've instead chosen to be very good across multiple stats having higher than average power and speed. By avoiding stat dumping they've given themselves a high but still balanced skillset that I think makes them very noteworthy amongst avian builds.

I’ve loved the pronghorn ever since I saw a wild kratts episode talking about the pronghorns skeletal structure in their legs, where their hooves are basically their toes. Some bones are fused, so their foot bone is like in the calf area. It’s like running on stilts. In addition, they have a one way lungs like birds do to continuously inhale oxygen.

I would love to hear you talk about one of the premiere survivalist builds that have been wildly successful on almost every server they find themselves in - foxes. Though they are smaller and more lightweight than similar builds like wolves or coyotes, their unique set of skills and meta-breaking tactics have allowed them to flourish in all servers.

These are truly amazing animals. I was driving on a little two-track trail out in the desert one time when a pronghorn buck started trotting alongside, about fifty yards off to my left. I pushed the gas. So did he. Pretty soon we were doing about 35, and he was staying even with me out there in the sagebrush, not even working hard. I dropped the gas again. So did he. Now we're doing 45, I'm bouncing all over on the rough barely-road, and I get the feeling he's just getting started. All of a sudden he got tired of the game and took off. He was just GONE. He must have been doing about 60. Just left me in the dust. What a cool guy. Then there are the times I see them when I'm out trail-running. They always stare at me with a facial expression that says, "Aw, how cute." 😆
