I’ve always enjoyed ships but it never occurred to me that I could build models until a week ago. Your videos have helped guide me to choosing OcCre. I’ve ordered the San Juan and am very excited to get started! Thanks for the videos!

Welcome aboard! You will love this hobby! Just a small remark, San Juan Nepomuceno is from Artesania Latina, not OcCre and even though it is a very beautiful ship i wouldn't recommend it as a beginners model. It is very hard to build , doesn't even have laser cut decks. I would advised to build a couple of more easy models before building the San Juan :)

I will STRONGLY recommend Vanguard Models as a great starting point for beginning. Particularly the two smaller ships they have for beginners as the design has the bearding line built into design and guides for sanding lined out for you to help. Chris Watton does an insane job at making kits easy to understand.

@@prototypep4 thank you for the recommendations! The “San Juan” that I ordered is actually a small beginners ship from OcCre. I think it will be a good starting point but I will check out the Vanguard models as well!

@@lincolngp279 The San Juan was my first model as a pastime response to covid lockdowns. I spent three months on it. Then I did the Occre Beagle. That took 18 months because I bought a book about the Beagle.... It is a fantastic hobby and I was really lucky (as you are) to choose Occre which is really easy to follow with good quality materials.

Hello John, great unboxing, allways love that part of modelbuilding, really gets the imagination working. Don't matter when you get around to building, personally I have around 30 modelkits in My workshop that I Will build, if i live long enough, i'm close to 72, and I love to look at Them and imagine what i Will doo with Them. At the moment i still work On My billing boat titanic, just finish the hull. Best to you an buddy Simon

Hi Simon! I am glad that you like it, i always love the unboxing, it's like you said, you have your imagination fly away and you picture what it will look like when you finish it :) You have plenty of time ahead of you Simon, your works of art are waiting in their boxes 😄

Good morning John, Great to see Buddy helping you with your projects. Molly gets excited watching Buddy assisting you with the opening sequence. Forgive me if you have previously answered this, but what is your favorite step of your builds?

Hi Gary! i would never could go through a model ship without company and guidance :) I haven't mention that before and i am glad that you asked me :) I love it when the building of the hull is complete and i start to make all the stuff that goes to the deck, especially the cannons if there are any 😀 And i hate 2 parts of the entire build, 1) the rope ladders, 2) making the yards and if the ship has 2 layers on the hull i hate the 2nd layer 😉

Hi Markos! I am glad that you are still here! This will take some months, i will probably begin building it in the 2023 but it is too soon to know exactly when :) Oh Buddy is helping a lot, he is different than Wolf but he has his ways :) Thank you again Markos for being here!

Hi John, you're amazing! That's a big kit! It's a done deal you'll do an incredible job. I'm about to start the Essex soon. That will be my biggest job but with you and others on KZfaq I'll be ok.

Didn't expect to see this today. you have a lot of work waiting on the self my friend. I am on the final stages of the beagle. As the beagle is my first model I learn it the hard way, lots of mistakes but I am fine with that. My next will be Candelaria. hoping to build and learn as you build it. On my self I have also montanes and santissima Trinidad.

You had to make mistakes, that's the only way you can learn. That's why i am always saying that the 1st one should be a cheap one :) Get ready for La Candelaria, around September or October i estimate i will begin building her 😀

Love the look of this ship. I tried to pre-order it but they wont ship it to Australia. So will have to wait till it eventually shows up in the stores that I usually buy from.

Love it John , I’ve just got the Billings Bounty for my stash . Unfortunately the Modelshipyard Port Jackson Schooner I’m building has no Sails , so not to be an idiot I’ve got to make some probably from Calico cotton and then find the rigging somewhere.I’m also doing the Artesania viking Ship with a sail 😁 Greetings from Perth Australia 🇦🇺

Hi Dirk! Of course you are not an idiot, that's why you try to find sails for your sails ship! You know how i am saying that, no offense :) There are people out there who are willing to pay 1000 euros or dollars to buy a sails ship with no sails!!! That is stupid unless you can manage to make the sails on your own :)

Well happy Christmas to you then, that's another model in the queue. I hope I will be around to see them built. We'll I have to say I am building the model of the victory and no it doesn't have any sails, I one of those who after spending many hours rigging I don't like to hide it behind sails. So I am sorry if mine will not be to your liking my only hope is if Buddy likes it. Still I love your new kit I am sure you will make a fantastic job of it. Regards paul osman

John, have ever provided a schematic for the way you build your power supplies for the led lighting circuits? I have a store bought battery pack, but obviously would prefer building my own.

No my friend but it is very simple. If you check out any video that i have made for the power supply unit that i build on the stand base, you will see and hear exactly how they components are connected.

Hello John. I bought the polaris kit. one of the ships that were on the page with all the ships from occre. But the kit did not come with sails do you have a link or a place online were you Can buy sails?

Hi, no unfortunately i do not know. To find sails it is going to be a hard job, they must fit into the scale and the shape of the yards. I recommend to email OcCre and ask them if they have a set to send you.
