Amethyst is a really popular mineral because we all love the beautiful, striking purple color, right? For many of us, it’s usually our very first crystal or what attracts us to the crystal realm. Today we are taking a really deep dive and comprehensive look at the geological & metaphysical properties of probably every kind of amethyst you can think of, every kind you’ve heard of, and certainly everything I know about amethyst.

yes my first crystal at the age of ten. I went with my Mother to a gem and mineral show. I still have that crystal sitting here on my desk and I am now 54. Beginning of a life long love of crystals and I will keep it forever.

Yes. I came upon a large amethyst geode at my house. It was actually outside with the rocks surrounding our fire pit. My fiancé was married previously and his wife passed from Lupus. I believe it was hers although Sean(my fiancé) does not remember. It’s beautiful and it started my love for crystals and other minerals.

LaLaish yes. It did, it does. Even though I didn’t know Michelle personally, I DO have a love for her bc my love loved her. She was a very good person. She saved animals. She had her own dog rescue nonprofit. I live in her home. I use a lot of the material things in the home that were hers( pots and pans, furniture, etc.). I feel her spirit here quite often. It’s a loving feeling. Like maybe she is just watching over us. I like to think maybe she led me to crystals. I’m grateful.

I love how when I’m holding my amethyst, it starts off cool to the touch which is wonderful for the third eye and for hay fever. Very healing for that when you having an attack of hay fever. It relieves it. This crystal warms up quickly and is great for settling into bed at night having a quiet time for meditating on the end of the day before sleep. Great time to use in the last five minutes before falling asleep to think of all things to feel gratitude and thankfulness for. I love it. I’m working with it at moment in relationship to spirituality. So I really glad to learn of it’s protective quality. I learnt a lot from you this morning. Thank you very much.

No but it was the first I really “ felt” and fell in love with. My firsts were black onyx, clear quartz, and rutile. Next visit to the crystal shop I found amethyst and fell in love 😍

I can't say that I've been drawn to Amethyst as a whole. Except for the rich, deep stuff that comes from Uruguay! Very, VERY early into my journey a few pieces came into my life but quickly left. I consider my first crystal to be smokey quartz and it became my first love! I would be so greatful if you did this same video for smokey quartz. Heck, this could he a start of a quartz series!

My first was apache tears. When I was young there was an apache tear mine near superior Arizona and my parents would take us there and we would dig up our own stones and my dad would tumble them and make jewelry for my mom and me. Still my favorite.

I had lots of first crystals. My Grandmother mined and collected them, so gave them to me! :] Anyway, my oldest friends were a Turquoise nugget in her drawer, river rocks, and Black Obsidian. My father was so proud that I could say Obsidian. he began teaching me about it and other rocks. When I became a teen, I put an Obsidian arrowhead under my pillow. It told me it wanted to work with me, and that one day I would use it to scry, just as the Shamans did. I was stunned that I could communicate with it. It's rare that children start off with a strong healer like that. I always congratulate and love stories of people that work with Black Obsidian. I know Apache Tears are different, but close enough. Thank you. I did eventually find resources and take sone Shamanic courses. I know I was a past life shaman, so things that seemed hard back then now seem so much simpler. Still working in the scrying! 😂 I am a witch and delved deep in to spiritual studies. I know now I want to be a mystic! What about you?

Technically Amethyst was my second purchase. First was a selenite wand (about 6 inches) this was before I knew anything about crystals. But I bought it after being educated about my sage stick bundle & the selenite wand combination bought from a wonderful lady locally. But THAT conversation sparked my crystal curiosity and new found obsession. I went to a store a few months later & I bought about 5 crystals in my first knowledgeable purchase. I honestly think the amethyst cluster was the 1st crystal I actually picked up in the store and well... I held onto it & then bought it after I found my others: a large selenite wand/charging plate, a pyrite stone, 2 very small raw black tourmaline pieces & 2 very small raw rose quartz stones :D That was my 1st crystal buying experience!

Yes amethyst was my first crystal, I got it for Christmas from my grandfather when I was 10 years old, Super nice pretty large Brazilian amethyst cluster, deep purple. I remember when I got it as a kid for Christmas I was kind of disappointed I was like how do I play with this 😆 But now I’m so happy for it I still have it, thank you grandpa Bob!

No, my first crystal was a Tiger's eye, didn't know what to do with it until I realized it was there to guide and to teach. Then, years later I came across a huge chunk of Morganite; Nuummite was next and only later I came across Amethyst, all different kinds of them...love what they do for the third eye :) and the mood in general :) Thank you!

So late to this party but my first crystal was actually a banded onyx tumblestone - a white one! I got it on holiday in the south of England. Amethyst was one of the crystals that my sister gave me that finally got me collecting properly though!

My first one was actually amazonite. I have never had as much of an affinity to amethyst as other rock lovers seem to - I am more of a blue / green crystal girl, with a love of rich red and brown ones too, although I had an amethyst ring i wore quite often for years prior to being into "crystals" as a hobby.

Thank you! After watching one of your videos I purchased my first Chakra set. It was not the typical set. I hand picked the stones as he store did not have what I needed, so it gave me a good sense of the crystal energies. Even though I slowly learned the various types of Amethyst, as mine was a vara cruz, much more pale in color, I want to thank you for putting it together. I have two questions. 1. What is the difference between a matrix and a druse? 2. Why did you skip over green Amethyst? Most people want to know about it.

I always thought anhydrite was my first but I found a little light coloured amethyst cluster that I remember buying when I was even younger and I had no idea until now that it was a crystal :D I dont really like amethyst so much but I like that one and Im happy to have one I can like because I was wanting an amethyst just to have for my collection but I couldnt like any. I believe that it worked out that way for me

Is Vera Cruz a specific shape or just the lighter color?

its from a specific location...and thats where it gets its name. Mainly Vera Cruz has higher clarity and a lighter purple, and their formation is more like a clear quartz than an amethyst... you could actually take it as a clear quartz with amethyst inclusions in my opinion.
