Who cares what I thing, Im Spanish but I love this ancient culture, I learning to play by my self but haw I wish have born in scotchland, keep it right you have a cultural treasure there in ireland. Gaélic and celtic nations, among them is Spain and the preroman Europe

I play Irish music, and know some Spanish and Galician music too… There is a huge connection between Spain, Iberia, northern France and beyond with Ireland… especially Galicia, Asturias, and the northern part of Spain. Instead of jigs, they dance muñeras i think it’s called. Many common themes, and the ancient Roman region of Gaul has its connections to the word “Gael”. The name Galicia is very similarly related to “Gaelic”. I know that many Spanish musicians are very protective of their music and traditions, as they should be, but the influences can’t be denied! The gaita, violin, the dances, even the language.. I think Galician language is almost like a Celtic fusion of Spanish, Portuguese and Irish, when you see it written! Even in the show Riverdance, flamenco and Spanish dance is featured with the song “Firedance”.

Cad a dhéanfaimid gan dóchais? Míle buíochas Muireann agus a chairde don bhronntanas dóchais seo. Tá guthanna álainn agaibh go léir. It's not many styles of music can harmonise hope, sadness and joy as naturally as the Irish. Thank you, it brings back memories.

@@seanhartnett79 Independent for about 100 years, no oppression anymore but still most Irish people don't want to speak their own language while they all learn it at school. Leoga ba chóir go mbeadh náire orthu sin nach labhrann í. Tá Gaeilg líofa agam féin, gidh nach Éireannach mé agus nach bhfuil mé 'mo chónaí in Éirinn fiú amháin...

Is this the same Gerry O'Beirne that played with the Bothy Band all those years ago? And produced with Micheal and Kevin on 'Promenade' and such? It must be... I have found a treasure! Many, many thanks and blessings upon you all.
