"Amica (Dramatic Poem)" premiered at the Opera du Casino de Monte Carlo (Monaco) 16 march 1905, in French, with Geraldine Farrar and a few months later at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, in Italian. Amica became so popular on stages around the world that a film director named Enrico Guazzone made a silent movie with Leda Gys, an Italian movie star, in the title role (several silent movies were made in that period from operas and Leda Gys starred also in La Boheme by Puccini).
