Yeah, I'm not sure about the reliability of Amiga PSU's, they certainly aren't as bad as the C64 ones but I think it's probably a good thing to do as they are getting very old and have the capability to blow your computer up if they go wrong. I won't be retrobrighting the A500 or this PSU now as it has now already gone to another home.

Retrobleach is pointless. You will weaken through plastic and it will fade back to yellow quite quickly. It's chemicals in the plastic. Do you wish to bleach every year forever? If not just let it be.

The notes in the data sheet say that the 12V line will be +-8% unless the 5V line is loaded to at least 10%. "when multi-channel output, it is recommended that CH1 load > 10%".

Yep, I have one of those bricks. They didn't pull that stunt with the Amiga PSU luckily.

There are links in the description where you will be able to find the data sheet, it will have the exact dimensions on it so you could check. But do remember that the 5V supply in this is 4 Amps, so technically it's less capable than the original A500 PSU's but in practice they never draw anywhere near that much current (but technically they could if you had 3 external floppies and a CPU card etc etc). So the A3000 would also probably be fine as well, unless it had a lot of expansion. I'll probably do a video where I measure the current draw of the A500/600 and 1200. There was a webpage somewhere that had some measurements but it has gone missing.

I've found the page, and it looks like the A3000 is a little different in that it needs a -5V supply in addition to the others. (+5, -12, +12). So this RT-50B unit can't power an A3000. Here is the page about the PSU's in the Amiga's it is very detailed ianstedman.co.uk/amiga-power-supply-guide/

Yeah, i don't know why they did that, as I have that other Commodore PSU which is nearly the same but they didn't cover the screw holes? People do complain about Apple products and their construction that makes them difficult to repair, but gluing down covers over the screw holes really is a nasty trick.

@@DavePoo2 I think Commodore set out specification and requirements for their PSU's, which becomes their part number, provided the specs were the same, they used the same part number. Left the manufacturer to come up with solutions matching their requirements, thus some are 'heavy' wirewound transformers and others are 'light' switch mode PSU's. As a finishing touch, some manufactures inserts blank plastic plugs into screw holes to prevent young curious people from tampering with something that could potentially kill them. I would say it's a 'safety feature'. Meanwhile Apple tend to use Torx or Pentalobe screws as a deterrent.

Apples way of doing things like that is terrible. ​@MsNIKITA

Not me personally, but the person who I have given this to knows how to retrobrite, so they will probably do it.
