Karsten Obarski wrote the first tracker for the Amiga, the Ultimate Soundtracker. Later famous trackers such as ProTracker are based on Ultimate Soundtracker's interface and file format.

Crystal Hammer has some serious Supaplex theme vibes. I am just now getting into Amiga music after a deep rabbit hole with synthwave, and now I am reliving my childhood again with my 486 and Roland Sound Card. Thanks for the vibes, and for dusting off the happy memories.

as an outsider to tracker composing its also really really inspiring to me that he figured out how to made such cool shit with such primitive software. crystal hammer has brought me to tears due to how much he must have wanted his ideas to be reality so he just went all out LOL

@@markr4619 The most important thing about his software design idea was that it literally brought music composing software to the people. The tracker is quite easy to grasp and is really hands on. You don't need any music theory knowledge to understand how to make simple music with the tracker software. If you wanted to make music with tracker style before Soundtracker you would also more or less need programming skills. So he really filled up a need when he released this software.

Crystal Hammer was my first Amiga favorite, first heard it on a tape a friend had recorded for me. Hearing it now it very strongly reminds me of the Amiga beginning days.

Those tunes have ingrained to sounds of ST-01 into the brains of so many youngsters of the 80s and 90s, it's really mind-blowing. I can't even say which of the tunes I like the most as they trigger memories from the olden times, when we were young and full of hope.

I completely agree. I think this style of making music has influenced and continues to influence the style of many musicians today, particularly those who create music using trackers on the Commodore Amiga.
