Missirlu, meaning Egyptian girl in turkish, was firdt played in Athens by a rebetiki orcherstra in 1927 as a zeibekiko with a very slow rythm. Later Roubanis a greek composer claimed the music of the song. Nowadays it is played a lot faster as an oriental dance.

Not first played- first recorded in 1927. Folk musicians from the region were playing it even earlier than that. No one knows who first composed or wrote it.

Красота, глаз не оторвать. Костюм великолепный, танцовщица огонь.

Historically rebetico came to mainland Greece by asian minor greek refugees after 1922. That's why it seems oriental.

You should read a bit about the history of our music and our composers behind it, a lot before anna visdi was born.

Beautiful! I love the traditional belly dance, with floor work and veils. Just wondering if dancers today use zils anymore?
@Pashasmom15 жыл бұрын
I have been wondering this for the last 10 years. I learned Turkish Cabaret, which incorporated Zills, Floor Work and Veils. Just doesn't seem to be done anymore. Hard to even find videos of Turkish Cabaret, the true ethnic dance.

Our teacher has us playing zills. Usually though, we are the troupe playing them, besides the ATS dancers.
I've been researching into how to belly dance and discovered an awesome website at gabs mover crusher (google it if you are interested)

We are so happy to see other people enjoying your artistic dancing, and I wish more people will see belly dancing as an art instead of a sexual dance. Keep up the great work Amira, We love you from the Nation Of Truth!!! :)
