It was bangin guys ! I'm thinking 12 out of 10 ! Pure and flawless ! Powerful and emotionally felt by all ! This is the finest version I have ever heard in my 70 years of music ! It's going to be the standard for years to come ! The magnificent orchestra , pipes and choir made this song come alive and Amira's voice rose above all of that ! Thank you as always for your tremendous heartfelt reaction as it was much appreciated ! I would suggest your other magnificent favorite Angelina' Jordan's rendition of "I Have Nothing " just recorded live in concert in Norway a week ago that will blow your socks off ! Another song you should listen too , is In The Stars,a song dedicated to her grandmother.One other item,Amira is a Long Distance runner,and when the covid was around,her and her brother did flips on the trampoline,and ice skating routines.She is quite the athlete!

That high note was Eb6, by the way. The arrangement was by Deveraux van der Hoven-Oosthuizen. You commented that Amira sings "spot-on" - that was the comment by Arnold Coleske, when she first sang in the Coleske brothers studio. He took her, in 2017, (and Deveraux van der Hoven-Oosthuizen, and her husband (who plays an electric guitar in the orchestra), plus Charl du Plesis, who is the Steinway agent for South Africa, and the pianist for the "Classics is Groot" concerts - and whom you will meet again when you get to her 2020 Streaming concert) to Prague to record her third album with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra.

@@wajj1842 Goodness me! An Australian having to explain English to an Englishman? In 2017, Arnold Coleske and his brother were the heads of "Coleske Artists" (Pretoria, South Africa). Coleske Artists ran the concert series "Classics is Groot" (Classics are Great), aimed at the white SA population of Johannesburg and Pretoria. In 2017, they offered Amira a recording contract, since her previous contract with SONY had expired - three years is the maximum duration for a contract with a minor in either SA or The Netherlands. As you are aware, Amira was 13 at the time, so no, she was not married. As a result of Arnold Coleske being impressed by Amira's audition with him, still in 2017, he took Amira and her mother and her manager (Mike Fuller), together with a number of the key members of his staff, i.e. Deveraux der Hoven-Oosthuizen (the Musical Director for Coleske Artists), Juan Oosthuizen (her husband), and Charl du Plessis, all to Prague, where Amira recorded her third Album "With all my Heart" , with the Czech National Philharmonic Orchestra. Amira is still not married, at 18. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Everyone is always amazed at how effortlessly she sings. Have to keep in mind she is also an incredible athlete who's specialty is long distance and cross country running. Her lung power is just beyond most young persons. Even at 8 years old she was running and winning both the girls and boys races.

She and Angelina are two remarkable phenomenon to grace us with their wonderful vocal talents. Both with their particular styles lift our spirits and touch our souls. Quite miraculous when you consider the wealth of talent that has emerged in the past. Real talent cuts through. It has this amazing ability to arrest us. Then we get semantically tangled, trying to express what is basically, head and shoulders above the rest.....that is the gift of prodigy.......and i thank God for the platforms and technology that allows these wonderful talents to be discovered and enjoyed. Thank you guys for presentations of Amira and Angelina....fantastic

Once again, a great reaction by the Brit Pops! I love your appreciation for Amira's voice and her talent! I'm glad for the inclusion of bagpipes in this arrangement, as while I am Canadian, my paternal grandfather emigrated to Canada from Scotland and I inherited a love for bagpipes.

The bagpipes are iconic and so appropriate as a lead-in to this song, even Pentatonix used their sound in the background. Her voice is incredible and unforgettable, especially for one so young. I'll listen to her any time you want!

BP1's reaction associating it with America is not unusual. It was the song popularised by the Civil Rights Movement. Reports say that it was sung at every rally that Martin Luther King Jr held. Apart from the fact, that the lyric writer John Newton - no relation to Isaac - originally a slave trader became an abolitionist and wrote hymns, including this one, to be sung at his services. Lots of coincidence there. Amira's singing of course was ethereal..lovely reaction!

Although you mentioned America and Scotland, John Newton was born in London in 1725 (died 1807). He spent some time as a slave trader, but became a Christian and an opponent of that trade. This hymn is his testimony to his conversion.

She's a superstar, and that's everything you need to say, really. Perfect every single time. Knocks your head off every single time. She's definitely set the bar for how this song is performed, but I can't honestly say that I love this more than PTX's version. They're both 10's for me. They are different versions in every possible way, not only lyric wise, but also in mood. Amira's is hauntingly beautiful, and PTX's is almost gospel in style. Very different all around. I do think, however, that Amira's version is the one that 'speaks' to most people. #endramble

@@delloso6205 PTX are Pentatonix. They're predominantly an acapella group (5 members) who sing both covers and original songs. 95% of their stuff is pure vocal and vocal percussion/instrumentation. Their version of 'Amazing Grace' is full acappela. It has more of a gospel feel to it than Amira's more traditional version. I genuinely can't place one over the other, both are fantastic.

Hi .. finally caught up with this one lol.... just love your reactions to Amira Quick note the Hymn has no Scottish connection at all only English .. though this tune was written by an American composer who might have Scottish connections I guess

I believe the song/hymn was written by an American slave trader, who had a revelation and saw the error of his ways. It is very popular in the US. Judy Collins had a big hit with it in the early 70s, and the Scottish dragoon guards dud a cover of it, which is why it's usually associated with bagpipes now. I always thought Judy Collins version was the best until I heard Amira give it the treatment. A lot of Amira's songs build and develop as they progress, the pauses, though doubtless necessary, interrupt their crafted shape. Which is a shame. I hope you listen to them uninterrupted later, to get the intended flavour. Her song Hallelujah builds, Bolero style, and would not carry so well chopped up. Other goodies to consider....Her Nessun Dorma, form this same show would be considered a banging tune. Amira gives it more welly than her HGT appearance at 9. She also sang The Flower duet, with Corlea Botha. It is more operatic but exquisite. Gabriella's Song, sung in Swedish shouldn't be missed, or her Nella Fantasia - Live performance in 2016. Keep them coming fellas!

Andrew Clayton. John Newton was born in London in July 1725. After he became a Christian he wrote this hymn as his testimony to the grace he found in Christ. It was published in the Olney Hymns written by himself and William Cowper and still appears in hymn books today.

Lisp issue???? What Lisp issue. I don,t think it,s Amira,s fault you can,t get into this . Just open your soul and let her in . Allow yourself some happy feelings .

@@tomten8663 Also if I do a comparison of this performance and that of a younger Jackie Evancho, Evancho has a more appealing warmth of tamber and tone. Not just face forward or Twang.

@@rickrack4812 Amira,s version is the one to beat and It still is . I have seen Jackie,s version ,It,s good but not as good as Amira,s version. I like Jackie very much, but is not my choise .But hey humanity is based on different taste .
