Perfect English? They’re basically speaking Dutch dialects. Hence the term, Pennsylvania Dutch language.

I grew up in Amish county (Lancaster, Pennsylvania). I have many Amish friends and acquaintances. The Amish in my area are much more strict. Plus, because they all speak (Pennsylvania Dutch) German, they have a familiar accent when they speak. I question the authenticity of this.

Yeah.. I'm pretty sure if these kids are Amish they have already left the Amish for good before this show and they just try to act like this is their first time leaving the Amish.. I'm not sure lol it seems kinda fishy

Not all amish in PA are Pennsylvania Dutch. Some are more liberal and live side by side the English picking up both accents. Plus, there's amish all over the usa.

I am not sure I understand the context of what is going on, are they on a rummspringer or something? I understand why the pregnant lady is out there, she got pregnant out of wedlock, she is probably going to get excommunicated. The others I don't know, are they trying to leave the religion as well?
