They wonder why I want to be with him and it's because he doesn't see me like "How much can I get out of her now/again?". He loves me even if I doubt it myself sometimes of why he loves me!!!!Even here in the English world that's a tough thing to have to live up to:being"perfect" when you're a preacher's kid. I have been around enough of them to know them personally. I would imagine it's even harder for an Amish preacher's daughter. Good luck to you Barbie!!!!

I live in Amish Country (I am not Amish tho) and I can say that this is really how life is for them.. Sadly the women do chores, birth babies & listen to their husbands 24/7 that's their whole lives. Many Amish are leaving nowadays, they're tired of being suppressed.

For a Community that supposedly believes in Christ they literally have NO FREE WILL, that is NOT what the Lord wants for his children, when you literally control EVERYTHING someone else does in their daily life , that's not loving, caring or doing anything God wants, you're just keeping power over others , I can guarantee they don't have to do any of what they put on others , they have Freedoms these woman and girls do not (nor the men and boys) It's only those at the top that get to CHOOSE their own lives, NO ONE wants to be controlled 24/7 that's just ABUSE not love.

Exactly God gave humans free moral agency. Shutting your kids up may seem like a good way to protect them from harm but as we can see from these shows it teaches them nothing about their moral accountability. They get out and go crazy when their parents aren't in the picture. They aren't doing things to please God they are trying to please their parents.

Yup. People get so caught up in the rules of their Christian cult. Christianity is a cult. Being Christian has a completely different meaning now. Back in the days it meant something..it meant you followed Christ. Now its just people who use 3 or 4 parts of some verses as slogans, their congregation buildings are full of people who ignore the laws of God...especially celebrating man made holidays like xmas, Halloween, etc. They use the excuse that they are saved by grace blah blah. Jesus said he was not here to abolish the law. But since it isnt convenient to them and they want people to give more money to their crap congregation.

I really hope I could hug her and tell her that she isn't wrong at all for wanting to choose a different path. Surely, the pressure on her and her sister are really heavy. And there's the guilt because you don't want your parents to look bad in the eyes of others because you love them deeply. I know the feeling. I really want to meet her and give her my support. You're really courageous. I hope parents would be able to understand that their children are not them. What they believe in is not their children's belifes. Please understand us. As a family, we should be accepting.

It’s not “why would family treat you like that”. It’s that they want their offsprings to be in the same faith and community and they know bad and vulnerable city life is. Unless matured enough, going to a city life is totally different. One can be deceived and get into many off stuffs.

If she was to speak to some other girl from the middle East that doesn’t have a “choice” I assure you they would tell her to run not walk away. She’s letting her heart tell her what’s right, and instinctively to be controlled like an object is wrong & her parents KNOW IT!

I'm going to watch but only for entertainment as I love watching about Amish life. But as for the Judging her? Naah... Why wld I do that when the Amish have enough judging of their own going on. So for entertainment, yes. But to sit on a throne and Judge her when we know absolutely nothing about their lives, or the inner struggles that some of them go through, No. It's Not for any of us to judge her, or any of the Amish.

I'm also a preacher daughter but in my denomination I was not allowed to have any choice at all !!! So I had to run away. Yes, children must obey parents but when they grow up, they take responsibility and have choice too. Most religions make the same mistake, which brings into this. Kid's should be taught me shows what is good and what it bad so they can see the difference long before they reach their age when they cab run away to something they never seen or seen so little and have no idea what's that. Also, youth must have choice to date before decide if they want to marry this person or not. Choice is what is taking from those community, that's why there are such problems. Teach kids to make right choices from their childhood.

This is an interesting season of this show - her nails have peeling, neutral-tone nail polish 💅🏻 (thought that wasn’t allowed?), her dad has a cell phone for his business (a bit hypocritical?), and her eyebrows appeared plucked. Not things we saw in the other episodes before they left home.
@skzchill
@skzchill 2 жыл бұрын
It's probably not a cell phone. It might just be a home phone that's only good for calling. I've seen lots of amish use the phones at restaurants to call their rides or something. And the nail polish and eyebrows were probably just the makeup crew getting her ready for the video. I mean if she's leaving the amish anyways it doesn't rlly matter if she plucks her eyebrows or wears nail polish. Just gotta hide it from her parents I guess
