Amit has been very less succesful against opponents who have a pressure figting style. they come forward and try to make their opponent retreat, Players who can fight going backward can do well against such opponents. Amit is not the one who fights going backwards. he retreats and bursts forward, in and out. Fundamentally an opportunistic counter-puncher. He dosent use his Jab to create opportunities for counter, instead banks on his opponents mistakes. Amit is very athletic and has a great footwork but he is lacking in skills required to fight pressure fighters like Galal Yafai, who he fought in previous world championship and settled for silver, and Yuberjen Martinez who he fought in Tokyo Olympics, Both the opponents pressured Amit to retreat and he had no comeback. I dont blame Amit though. Amit is an exceptional athlete but Boxing Coaching in India and the competition pool iwithin n India is subbar. Unless Amit fixes his shortcomings, No hope for Men's Boxing, Nitu is a great upcoming boxer, but she's had been ruled out to participate in Asian games, where the winner autmatically qualifes for the olympics, Nikhat is the most promising prospect, Nikhat in my view, beat Mary Kom for the Tokyo qualifiers by a slim margin, but the Mary was selected for Tokyo ( because Mary has clout, but no issue.) this time around Nikhat the reigning IBA world champion gets a shot at olympics, We'll have to see.
