@@Nikita-uo2sm7xq9lI never really felt frightened in rebirth. Like, I don't think I even died once? This game however, I can't think of a better gameplay loop in a horror game. If you know any horror games that have a better gameplay loop, please let me know!

@nellkellino-miller7673 Darkwood possibly, but the loop is similar. Survival based around a safe room, which you are forced to retreat to and defend at night. However the horror is better because the tension and/or anticipation threatens to make your heart explode, even when you know what's coming. There’s combat, but no amount of prep or weapons will relieve you even against the most basic enemies, because you are always 1-2 hits from death against opponents who are ALWAYS at an advantage against you.

The sound design in this game is absolutely horrifying. While henri is trying to survive his own battle inside “the bunker” you can hear the whistling of the shells and distant machine gun fire on the surface. This is a very unique horror genre and I would love to see more games like it.

Kind of like 28 weeks layer It’s horrifying knowing that the world above is continuing like normal while you’re dealing with horrors beyond your comprehension, so far yet close from help

The Sound Design is AMAZING, sure, Henri doesn't have many voicelines, but his screams are blood curtling. I'm pretty sure in one of the hole animations, you can hear his Spine snap as he gets yanked into the hole. Not to mention hearing his muffled groans when the monster grabs his face and crushes his skull (Pretty sure you can hear his skull cracking too.) Fucking horrifying.

Agreed. I think that the scariest part of Amnesia: The Bunker wasn't the war or monster, but the fact you were playing as a French person.

The scariest part about this game isn't the monster itself. Spoilers below: It's the fact the main character turns his best friend into a monster who chases him the whole game, there's some deep philosophical meaning etched into it, especially with how guilty Henri feels about Lambert. I was hoping giving him the plush toy would unlock a different ending.

It didn't just chase you down for the whole game, it also killed a good 95% of the Bunker's inhabitants. Also, don't forget that the whole reason Lambert even had to go on patrol (and subsequently get attacked by the Germans or just fall into the pit himself) was because Henri used some sort of sleight of hand trick to win in a dice game. If the Germans don't kill Henri at the end of the game Henri might have trouble keeping himself alive with the amount of survivor's guilt he'd have gotten. Could you imagine a system like that in a sequel to this; where you need to keep yourself sane or you risk pointing the revolver at yourself anytime you draw it?

I really just found one wooden stick in this game and never used the gas mask or gas grenades, also that clock was just wasting inventory space. If they had like one tunnel section filled with gas to make use of the mask 🤷🏼‍♀️. Otherwise it was good. Maybe marking the map with notes would be nice too
