To all you kids out there who want to be musicians, pay attention to this episode. The better the artist, the broader the styles of music “in the bag”. Listen to everything even if it’s not the genre you play. Especially classical. That music just gets your mind moving and what you play will just expand.

yeah i was scrolling past all their uploads looking for someone id recognize. had to do a triple take when i saw this and then clicked right away. the man just casually tells a story about hanging out with bob dylan.

In February 2020 he did an instore book reading and signing at Amoeba in San Francisco. Those events tend to be very superficial but he took the time to converse with everyone who attended in a thoughtful and humble manner. The man is giant in every way imaginable.

When I saw Booker T, I thought of Booker T Jones because I've been listening to Bill Wither's album "Just As I Am" where he mentions Booker T 😁👍

Booker T Jones is a bonafide legend who influenced all the 60s rnb groups and rock bands which in turn influenced all popular music thereafter. LEGEND.

From all the hits with the MG’s, backing so many legendary Stax artists (Otis being one), producing great albums such as Bill Withers’ debut, and all of his solo work.. Booker T. Jones should be respected as one of the best musicians to ever do it. Ultimate respect and awesome video

Until he actually said "...my band Booker T and the MG's", I simply could not believe I was watching THE Booker T. Sure looks better than anyone else from the sixties that is still around. Perhaps like Nicolas Cage he is a time-traveling vampire ?

Saw him and the M.Gs backing Neil Young back in 93(?) At the old Exhibition stadium in Toronto. Great band, great show with Pearl Jam,Soundgarden and Blues Traveler opening for them.

Other than his genius and fantastic attitude, I must express joy over his descriptions of Hammonds in so many things I've seen featuring him. Excellent evangelist for the instrument, ~as if his playing wasn't enough.

I love how the youngsters on this programme are so obsessed with just buying vinyl because it sounds so and so, and then you get legends like Booket T. who just don't give a damn and buy CDs because it's all about the music!

Seen Booker T & The MG's live back in 1993 when they toured as Neil Young's back up band. It was during Young's co-headlining tour with Pearl Jam (w/ Blind Melon as the opening act)

Little known fact- Booker T owned a ranch (down the street from me) with a guitar shaped fireplace. And next door lived Rita Coolidge's parents.

Sweet little video. Saw Booker T and the MGs at Wolftrap in VA in the 90's. Did a cross country drive a couple years ago and took the kids through Memphis to hit Stax as well. Rock on Booker T. Jones. Legend!

Saw Booker T and the MG's at Beale St Music Fest with the Mississippi River in the background. Seeing them and Tom Waits at The Orpheum in Memphis are 1 & 2 of all the live music I've seen.

Part of one of the best bands of all time- not just because of the great music but how great a band they truly were- I would vote for Muddy Waters Band, Elvis Presley's first band, Little Richard and Fats Domino's band and Booker T and The M'G's. If not your favorites, that's fine. But as a musician how these bands played together can and could not be beat. Oh, and please add James Brown's rhythm section and Motown's to this list.

What a legend! Love how he pronounces Sibelius' first name the French way, and also how wonderful was it back then to be able to go to the library/music library any time as it was open 24/7, most kids today have no idea most of us never had anything at our fingertips at any time of the day :) Amoeba, can you please try to even volume out between interview segments and music ones? It was tough on the ears. TY and Happy New Year.
