i love this song - the lyrics are really beautiful poetry -and the melody and amazing singing are just perfect

Pekka Kainulainen writes the lyrics, inspired by KALEVALA, the national epic of Finland, for Amorphis in Finnish. The band then translates them into English. Kalevala language is not easy, it's old and poetic. So much that I can remember a time when many people said that making school children read it kills their interest in Kalevala for good early on. I also remember a contemporary dance performance inspired by Kalevala. The dancer/choreographer had this advice to the audience: "Forget about Kalevala!" That was good advice. I was automatically trying to make the connection between the dance and Kalevala, and it was very distracting. Kainulainen is a multi artist. Drawings, paintings, sculpture, texts, songs, video art, performances. He also teaches picture art. He applied for, and was granted an artist pension 5 years ago. It's not much, something between 1000 and 2000 euros per month I think. (So now we know he is not rich, they do not grant the pension for rich artists.)
