Did you clock that Avasarala was wearing Julie's flight suit when Holden made Mao kneel before her? It was like Julie's ghost was possessing the queen of earth to bring him to justice. Such a good moment

When Amos hears Prax call him his bestfriend, I think it struck a chord that Amos has been scruggling with for a while. He sees himself as a monster that his younger self would have fought. Prax cut right through that darkness and made Amos feel like a real human again; which is the reason he stops Prax from going down that path.

Clarus nailed the November video release date.

Of course I fully respect and support your decision to go on hiatus during the strike, but damn if it wasn't almost perfect timing to blue-ball your followers anticipating this iconic episode.

This show's writing is so incredible. One of my favorite little details that I love to point out is that the first time we meet Bobbie, she's arm wrestling her power armor and beats it, breaking it in a shower of sparks, and showing that she's able to overpower the mechanical components of her suit, which she does in order to kill the hybrid in this episode, like 16 episodes later

"I am that guy." One of my favorite lines of the entire series.

Everyone rightly raves Amos' big moment, but can we also shout-out Bobby's payoff from her earlier arm-wrestling her own power armour, using brute strength to force the servos and position her gun to blast Katoa-chan's head off? CHEF'S. KISS.

We laugh, but Amos helped Prax save Mei from a fate worse than death, and helped keep Prax alive along the way. That just might make you someone's best friend in the whole world (I imagine that "world" can mean all of human civilization, not just a single globe).

Amos sees people as in one of three categories. Bad people, people you follow, people you protect. With prax, they both teach each other. They both contribute in different but equal ways to the friendship. I think it’s the first time Amos has really been a peer. He’s seeing himself thru prax’s eyes. On an even playing field. I think he’s shocked and then I think he realizes prax is right.

This episode... The payoff of the Prax-Amos-Meng story is one of the best executed scenes in TV, is simply perfect, perfect in every way. While the "I am that guy" gets all the love, it is the second, "You're not that guy..." is what makes is it hit home in my opinion. Every character gets moments in this episode to shine, Pro and Antagonist alike...

One of my absolute favorite Amos moments. Tied with the fact that he has been in pumps and taught Avrashrala to walk in grav boots.

I think Amos was shocked but pleased to be called Prax’s best friend.

The thing that I loved about the Prax scene with his daughter is he was trying to get here to trust Amos in real time and be expedient about it. He chose to explain who Amos was in a way that a child would instantly understand... "he is my best friend in the world". Then Amos proves that he truly is a friend in that he recognizes that if Prax killed the doctor it would change who he fundamentally is and it would haunt him. Amos removed that burden from him and took it upon himself knowing that he lost his innocence a long time ago. I found this link of some of the cast and writers reacting to the "I am that guy scene". Cotyar is my absolute favourite character of the whole show. There are close seconds, of course, but I do love me a good spy who had become disillusioned but finally finds a cause to believe in. And Nick E. Tarabay played him beautifully! RIP Cotyar Ghazi, one of the good guys.

Gotta just say one thing: Really appreciate that you take the time to single out excellence in different departments - casting, make-up, visual effects, sound design, etc. Film is not something I'm super knowledgeable about, but I know enough to know that it takes a full team to make something as spectacular as The Expanse. Everyone involved should get their shine. Well done to them and to the two of you.

I 100% back Unions and am delighted the WGA and SAG got their deals and showed true power in unity and was totally ok with all the projects I was looking foward to being delayed and pushed back just as long as *all* the people working on them got their rewards, but knowing you guys were just 2 eps from this FUCKING BANGER drove me nuts! (But you guys are not in sync with another great Expanse reactor, Mage Reacts, so thats ace!)

“This might be in November!” Well here we are!

Season 3 of this show just bangs so much!!! Every episode builds upon the previous one to the end! So long Cotyar. You went out like a boss. The confrontation and getting Mei back was so heartwarming followed by Amos dispatching Strickland!! Fire! The rest of the season covers all of book 3 so it's pretty fast. Mao kneeling before Avasarala in Julie Mao's racing suit, so fitting for his daughter to be standing triumphant over him.

As I have told other people, Bobbie was aware that the plan, if a hybrid was encountered, was to run. She just never said what direction she would be running in,.

Narrator: "It was November" But yeah it was an amazing Book finale. ^^

It's awesome how, in the scene when Holden puts Jules Pierre-Mao on his knees in front of Avasarala, they make it that much more meaningful without even a single spoken word & let it stay totally under the radar for fans to pick up with the added symbolism of Jules also defeated & on his knees in front of Julie as well by having Avasarala wearing Julie's racing suit. Not to mention showing Jules ending his physical presence in the show on his knees, defeated by all who'd fought for the right thing & against him, and jailed aboard a Martian ship after he'd allowed & enabled his hybrid pods to have been sent to destroy Mars, but were instead destroyed by the Belt using Earth missiles they came into possession of because of Jules Pierre-Mao's own experiments & actions. The subtle symbolism in the show, much like crazy high level of attention paid to details in the show, manages to accomplish the nearly impossible of making the show even better.

You guys had the exact wrong reaction to one of the most heartfelt moments in the show. Amos wasn’t surprised or uncomfortable, in that one quick look it conveyed just how much that meant to him, and allowed him to do what must be done in the next scene.

Nerdy: WTF?! Amos: WTF? Nerdy and Clarus: Language Amos! Think of the children. Amos: What did you expecte? I am that guy. And yeah, most reactors call him out on that, and I chuckle every time, because seriously, WTF IS THAT?!

Great reaction! There are so many great moments in this episode! Cotyar, Bobbie fighting the hybrid, Naomi and Holden, JP Mao on his knees in front of Chrisjen wearing Julie's racing suit, and ofcourse everyone's favorite moment " I am that guy!" But to be honest mine is the moment Amos being the reluctant damaged hero to save his best friends soul so he can be a good father for Mea by stopping Prax " You're not that guy.... you're not that!" 😢 Looking forward to the next one!

So SyFy announced that the show was canceled in between Eps 5 & 6 of Season 3, and right around S3E8 it was picked up by Amazon. It was a crazy few weeks, with the massive fan campaign, the cast rallying the fandom, people in shock that it got canceled between 2 of its best episodes, and then relief when it got bought by Amazon

I struggled with the "My best Friend in the whole world" at first too, but after a bit of time, i realized, Amos was his best friend in "Prax's World." I don't care if that is how it was meant but that helps me separate my Earth World from a someone's Personal World. 😊

Oh, I've been waiting for this one. This is THE moment that tells you everything you need to know about Amos. So good.

So many amazing things happened in this episode. And that end sequence was probably o e the my favorite finales (the end of book 2) in TV.; 1 - Prax gets his daughter back. 2 - Amos’ “You not that guy”, closes the air door behind him, then “I am that guy. 3 - Strickland got what was coming to him. 4 - Errinwright got arrested. 5 - Cotyar’s sacrifice. 6 - Admiral Nguyen goes down. 7 - Jules Mao is captured and handed over to Avasarala. 8 - Fred Johnson gives up the the stolen Earth nukes to save Mars. And that’s the second time that Belt saved the Inner planets. The first was when Miller convenced Proto-molecule Julie to turn Eros towards Venus. (That was a great episode too) 9 - the Venus Event. “What the F is that?” (Even Amos is so awed by it that he forgot that he was pouring milk for the kids) Now I had only watched a couple of episodes of season one when the trailer for season 3.5 came out just after watching the fourth episode of season 1 when they got the Roci, and that’s what did it for me. Before that I was like I was as if I was watching two different shows, I even skipped through all of the Miller scenes until the episode where he ran into Holden and gang. This show did an amazing job even with their low budget during it’s first 3 seasons on SyFy. So, I had to go back and watch his scenes. (This is a show that knows how to do character arcs and story arcs right)

One of the reasons episode 6 of both seasons 2 and 3 feel so much like the end of a season is that they're the end of respective books. I actually love the cadence the show created by finding a season finale mid book and holding the tension across the season break while also giving themselves an incredible 'midseason finale'

In those wide ext shots of Bobbie and the Katoa hybrid lying on the ground, you might have noticed a horizon wide volcanic plume in the background. Io is known for its volcanoes. It's easy to miss because we're focused on the characters, and it sort of blends in with the background, but nice detail.

This is probably my favorite episode of the Expanse! The rest is still really good, but this one... chef's kiss!

I think when Prax told Mei that Amos is "my best friend in the whole world." it kind of broke Amos, because the idea of "friendship" was not a part of Amos' world. His whole existence up to this point has been about trauma and survival, and to hear someone-especially a good soul like Prax-claim him as a friend, a "best friend", shifted his whole world. Amos heard Prax say this, and he believed it 100%, which was very confusing to him, because no one had ever connected with him like that before-not even Naomi. To me, it was a beautiful and heartbreaking moment.

This is the Expanse. This is Art. So many things about this episode that I love and that I could comment about. Amos and his 'I am that guy' scene. Still not my favourite Amos line, I will let you know when that happens. The way that Cortyar went out, taking care of Avasarala for what he owes her son. Amos and Prax being besties, because Amos has never really had a friend before. The way that Sorrento-Gillis was the weak minded scum that Errinwright thinks he is. Yet Errinwright making the decisions he made bought himself down. No Bad guys in this show just people making bad decisions. However the thing that wins out for me is the moment where James Holden brings Mao in front of Avasarala. He makes Mao kneel before Avasarala, who is wearing Julie Mao's flight suit. So Jules-Pierre is not just kneeling before Avasarala, he is also being bought low by the Daughter he disparaged and would not support. In the end Julie had her victory.

Its probably been,said in,other videos but I love martian power armor. It is what I always pictured when u read starship troopers when I was young. Loved Errinwrights villian arc. A patriot who thought he was doing what was rightand not seeing how fucked what he's doing is.

Dr. Strickland: Lets use children as human shields. JP Mao: You son of a bitch... I'm in! It was so satisfying when That Guy took Strickland out. Some people really don't need a trial by their peers.

Mao has a habit of making you almost think you can respect him (talking about shutting down his program because Mei reminds him of his daughter) -- then he kicks you in the shin and runs back to the far-side of fucked while mooning you (being Mao and seeing it works and deciding 'you know what, fuck them kids').

Congrats on the Strike being settled. This episode is the perfect one to return to looking forward to the back half of season 3.

One other thing -- the actor who played Cotyar is Nick Tarabay. He played Ashur in the tv series Spartacus. He will star in the spinoff "Spartacus: The House of Ashur". The series just got green-lighted. If you never seen Spartacus on Starz, you should! Don't know if it is reviewable on KZfaq given the violence, nudity, and the constant F-bombs 🤣🤣🤣, but you would enjoy it tremendously!

Such a good episode. Like, the entirety of season 3 up to this point is some of the best TV I’ve ever watched. I know it’s already been filmed but the ride through to the end of S3 is awesome. Book fact, Holden is on the Agatha King. He shoots Nguyễn in the throat to shut him up.

Hey guys, viewer suggestion for ya: Three Body Problem (Liu Cixin) Lovecraftian, cosmic sci-fi horror of the highest caliber. Arguably one of the most terrifying stories in the genre ever told. It’s a very slow burn that eventually rips your face off. Not mentioning it for reaction material, just for your own enjoyment. I know how much you two LOVE your sci-fi. Currently it’s served up in two forms, an amazing book series and a kick ass Korean TV (Three Body) series which covers the first book.

3.5 and 3.6 are some of my favourite episodes of this series and television in general. Just so packed with action drama, brilliant lines, and heartfelt moments.

Re: feeling like it's nearing the end. It's not a mistake, the series is essentially a trilogy of trilogies and you're nearing the finale of the first. The rest of the show after that covers the second and hopefully we'll get the final trilogy because it's a banger

Been a while since I read the books. But I believe the adults were more uncontrollable in speed and power when transformed. They chose Mei and the others kids because they had a rare genetic defect, making hybrids with a defect in case they went out of control.

I said this last episode, My top moments have not happened yet. "I am that guy" is one of them. Now that the low stress of the first half of the series is done, we can ramp up the stress inducing episodes.

watching episodes 5 and 6 back to back with you was a good move. but you're right, this kinda feels like a series end, with that "Cuthulu blob" emerging from Venus as a really good cliffhanger. now, the rest of the season might feel a little rushed, since they will cram in one book in half the time they've previousely done, the production team was worried they would be canceled at the end of season three, so they wanted the option to leave the show on a satisfying end. turns out they in fact did get canceled, however, Amazon picked it up before it even had aired the season finale, so Expanse lived on strong! personally, I think leaving it off at the end of season three could have worked well too.

The reason this feels like an ending is because it's the ending of the second book. The first three seasons aren't direct book-to-season. The first book lasts the first season-and-a-half and ends with Eros hitting Venus. The second book is the second half of the second season and the first half of the third season, ending with this episode. The third book is the second half of the third season, probably because of budget (you know if you've seen it).

That end of the show feeling is because this is the end of a book.
