Wow, when it's in the water it actually looks like it's alive... that's a great accomplishment. it's a thing of beauty even.

This thing workes so much better in water! You could make some really awesome looking stuff with that!
@xflint715 жыл бұрын
It's kind of gimpy on land, but I can see a huge range of uses for under-water surveying. That's really amazing how it moves through the water with such grace and ease. :)
@prismodon13 жыл бұрын
They are so graceful in the water it's amazing.

I've never seen a robot move so well through it's environment. I suppose it makes sense that it's easier to make something that navigates oceans easier than it is to make something that navigates the land. The time in evolutionary standards is billions of years!

It seems to almost come to life in the water. Impressive little thing I think in the 5 years since this video was posted we have made even more impressive things

would be ideal do dunk these in the ocean fitted with heat sensing cameras to find bodies in the ocean during a search. or it would all illuminate when it has found a sign of heat or scanned for a body like shape

The ability of the automonous robotic snake is remarkable. Will the robotic snake be tested in a open lake environment? The robot does seem to have the ability to hover in the water, amazing.

Put that on the bottom of a big public pool, sit on the lifeguard stand, and wait til the pool fills up and turn it on and let it swim, the pool would turn yellow because of how many people piss their pants thinking its a huge snake.
@Apropoetic11 жыл бұрын
I would like to see them somehow actually replicate the undulating caterpillar like mechanics that some snakes use to move.

This thing is ominous looking. There is some pretty scary stuff out in the ocean. I was surfing at the beach and just treading water hanging off the board and the entire bottom of my foot kicked something so it had to be pretty big. I caught the next wave and stood on the beach was pretty freaked. Took a while to get the nerve up to go back in.

That thing joins forces with the British SkyNet (controlling Hunter-killer drones), and Cyberdyne from Japan who are making exoskeletons to create: "Cyberdyne systems" and the Terminators. in fact that is a prototype for the Hydrobot.

I wonder if it's controlled remotely or if it's programmed to react to it's surroundings. The video didn't show a remote control, but that would be the most logical means of direction
