Just look at the body of the vehicle you could tell with simple knowledge about bouyancy could tell that ka-mi could float, the add on auxiliary only adding stability

Schwimmpanzer floatation pods as an upgrade for the PzII would also be cool, and the Tiger needs to get its historical snorkel which was fitted to allow it to ford rivers because it was too heavy for most bridges.

Just saying: Ka-mi can float without it's pontoons. Pontoons were for rough sea stability.

IRL, the Ka-Tsu wasn't designed for open-water combat. It was designed to destroy enemy ships anchored inside atolls by transporting a torpedo from a submarine, over the outer reefs, to the lagoon inside (which could not be reached by regular submarine-launched torpedoes).

@@R4V3-0N it actually could turn as navigation in water was done by the commander not the driver. While it does lose its rudder when it losses it's rear pontoon steering could also be done by independently controlling the propellers in a way that resembles how a tank turns using its tracks.

From my experience, it's an extremely rare sight to see low BR players going around the map. They're usually in the main town. I've went on the side of the lake opposite of the town and only experienced at least 2 enemy tanks. Quite easy pickings when I'm over there

In case of the Ka-Mi, it could swim anyway. In other cases, such as the Sherman DD(Duplex Drive) or Valentine DD, swimming required putting up a screen around the tank. There was a way to drop the screen when on the ground, but the tank couldn't shot with it, and was an easy target. The screen was also 100% not bulletproof, and I can see why the devs don't want to treat some tanks as boats, measuring their buoyancy based on leaks.

@@krakenburger56 If you look in the research tree you find the pictures of the vehicles, in the lower right corner, right of the battle rating number there is a symbol of the vehicle class. It would be nice if we could get an additional set of symbols just left of the battle rating number for amphibious vehicles, radar etc. Something like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_Joint_Military_Symbology. It would make creating quick line ups much easier and show you what this vehicle is capable of, without looking in War Thunder Wiki. I haven't play the BMP for some time but at least one get to heavy with additional armor and you will drown in this configuration. The water "deflector" shield of the amphibious vehicles are there that the vehicle don't push it self under the water and protect the driver like a windshield.
