U.S. Army Veteran here in Florida. Bionic Prosthetics out of Pembroke Pines,Brian Narin, has done an AMAZING job creating my Martin Bionics Socketless Socket!! After so many issues with an conventional socket! The Comfort and range of mobility is beyond words and yes emotional! This innovation is a MUST for any amputee/Myself to help me stay in the good fight of life…

I have had problems with the socket for 35 years now, unfortunately having a short stump blood sores were the order of the day, my childhood was a hell of pain. I fully understand the emotion you felt when you first realized, after so many lost battles, that you had won the war against all the pain and discomfort you've fought your entire life with. I am happy for you.

I’m completely with you 🤩 🙌🏻the latest adjustable socket technology is fantastic 🤩 🙌🏻 I have crazy volume fluctuations in my residual (up to 100mm) I’ve been wearing the infinite socket by Lim innovations for the last 6 years, I love it I no longer have to wear extra socks I just click my strap and go about my day! It is so freeing being able to sit comfortably and no longer having my clothes ruined by the ischial seat. It also works by using all of my leg muscles which was tiring for the first 3 months rebuilding the muscles I had wasted in the old bucket sockets but now the control I have wearing my prosthetic is fantastic it is so soft and light and the benefits wearing it to my residual limb has been amazing, my range of motion in my hips is amazing. I have quad muscles again 🤣Thank you for showing your Martin bionic socket and showing fellow amputees that there are some amazing new socket technologies out there that actually work and are comfortable to wear. No more hard rigid sockets, pain from the bone hitting the hard socket walls no more blisters and sores too. Ps I’m now so passionate about letting people know that there’s these amazing technologies out there just ask your prosthetist! 🤗🤗

Thanks for the great, real world review of a Martin Bionics socket. I became a BKA last month and I'm anxious to start the prosthetic journey and I discovered MB when I was doing research into prosthetics and it is completely different from other sockets. I'll be going to the Austin, TX location. Glad it works for you. Hopefully I'll have a similar experience 😊

As emotionally as you reacted, this "socket" really seems to be a groundbreaking invention. I hope it is not more expensive in terms of production costs than the previous ones. To which all amputees can refer to their health insurances.

My insurance isn’t covered by this socket unfortunately where other companies are. I really want to try it though I’m a very active amputee and plan to be a pilot so it could really help me

Hi I recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy with bilateral fibula hemimelia and ectrodactyly on his right hand. I'm extremely interested in prosthetics as he will be getting prosthetics by age 1 and this caught my eye. Thank you for sharing!

I have been an amputee for over 60 plus years. The prothesis of my choice as been exsoskeital knee made by Ottobock. This has been the only limb I have ever worn. I spent 45 years at the operating table with very long surgeries. I am going to make this short. This is my advice to recent amputees. Shop around and get references before you decide on a prosthestist. Their are some very good ones in practice but their are so very bad ones as well. Be very careful by these new scam artist pushing bionics. I recently have came in contact with one. What ever you do do your home work first. You will be glad you did.

Thank you for sharing. I posted a reply to Isabelle Weall's Instagram (don't know if you know about her, she is 18 and had both her legs amputeed above knee and both her arms below the elbow when she was 7, and she has a youtube channel: kzfaq.info). I think this kind of socket would be good for her. Hopefully she sees the comment. Thanks for sharing, and love your content!

Is there some way to get this in my local area? I lost my rt ak and have had nothing but trouble because of bad builders. I had one built and it never has worked since day 1. The craftsmanship is so bad I cut myself from the rough edges. It hurt so bad I told him it will not work. He told me well just take it and try it. If it dies not work out then in two years you can apply for a new one. By then maybe technology will be better. I complained about it and it went no where. They told me that because of covid things took longer than normal so my body had changed more than normal. I told them that it never has fit at every fitting . If I try and wear it my crotch area gets cut up so bad ot bleeds all over then takes weeks to heal up. I say it was poor craftsmanship from the start and never was correct. The knee feels like it is at my shin location. When I sit one looks like my leg is very long on top and no shin.I am to the point now that I want to bilid it myself. If I can get tge socket I can build the rest. I am a body man by trade and can build anything so why not a leg? I just want to walk again on two legs like we are intended to do so. Ride my motorcycle again and ride my bike. Its been too long on crutches and I want my life back. You inspired me to push again and try to get a bucket that fits and make my iwn..thanks and keep telling people about it. Im not going to take no for an answer this time. I want a leg that will do what I want it to. Not just get pushed through a corrupt system. I know the person who built my leg I have now did me a dis service. He knew it was junk and still pushed me out tge door. No prude in his work at all. After I got it home and compared it to other peoples that I know have prosthetic legs it is complete garbage and should be shown to builders of what not to do. If I fixed a car as bad as this guys work I would not have a job.

What is phantom pain. Do you have it ?
@KnubbLife
@KnubbLife 5 ай бұрын
I have it. Phantom pain is horrible. It was much worse right after my amputation. Mine is below knee and it was after a motorcycle accident. It was nearly 100% amputated in the accident and it was about 40 minutes until someone found me so the limb was already dead when they got there. Aside from my leg, I broke 12 other bones. I needed 3 skin grafts, had 6 bones that needed either stainless plates or titanium inserted through the center to hold them to the shape. All that and the phantom pain was the worst pain I've felt since the day of the accident. It had so many different types of pain. There was stabbing pain where I felt like a knife was diagonally through the front of where my ankle bends and came out at the corner of my heel, and then folded backwards so my heel was touching my calf. I kept reaching for it to grab the pain and fold it back the right way but it was gone. I had pain feeling like my toes were stuck in between a cable and pulley and it was grinding back and forth crushing my toes. The real horrible pain like that started becoming less frequent with time. I haven't had any that bad for a while thankfully 🙏. It got to where it would be triggered and got bad if I tried to move my ankle or toes that aren't there anymore. It's most difficult when I stretch. My knee was barely saved. My limb goes maybe 4 inches below my knee and when I stretch the limb twitches real fast. It's hard not to try to stretch my toes when I'm in bed and I wake up and stretch my "whole body". Now I get phantom sensations more than I get phantom pain so it's like an itch or feeling a tickle like a bug is crawling on it n stuff like that. I hope that answers your question and I hope you never have to experience it... Ya know, unless you're a child predator or something like that 😂 but otherwise I hope you never have to go through anything like this. It could be worse for sure but this is pretty horrible
