It's re-build in Lelystad, as part of the Aviodrome-museum.

And the 50's tower is still there at Schiphol east. It's used for events and there is a restaurant at the ground floor. I believe they did move it a couple hundred meters but it's still close to the original location.

if you didn't realise, it was bombed. They rebuilt the tower a little off the original place for events, and there's a full copy in Aviodrome, Lelystad. :)

Its crazy how the camera works to obscure the city slowly being constructed around the airport and then at the end it pulls away to reveal a completely urbanised floodplain. Very clever

It’s a practical airport in my opinion.no seperate terminals,easy access(in my opinion) to get to whichever gate u need to get to.

I believe this animation focusses solely on the passenger side of Schiphol? The cargo aprons (Romeo Sierra) seem to be missing entirely as well as most of the "Cityhopper" platform (Bravo) and several other platforms used for de-icing or remote parking (Papa, Victor).

It looks like there was a period stretching from the seventies to the early oughts where they had a terminal to which aircraft could not taxi without rolling through the marsh prairie.

Did you know that: Schiphol is the oldest airport in the world still using its original name? Schiphol is the only airport in the world with a mortuary? Schiphol has the highest control tower in the world?

Not the highest control tower, top 10 is 132.2 metres ( highest in Thailand ) to 105 metres high. Schiphol tower is 101 metres high.

Thank you for the video, it is very nice and it was intresting to see every single piece constructed bit by bit! I have once visited Shiphol airport and my journey went very well. Even though I have been there, I didnt know that there where canal so close to airport.

Schiphol is one terminal so you don't need to take subways like Beowolf Arsewhole T5 at LHR. It's said that the taxi out to the runway on short haul flights often exceeds the cruise segment of the flight.

witte vlek? eerder zwarte wolk. Het zou echt niet misstaan hebben om al de gebouwen in puin te hebben weergegeven in het begin van het 1945 filmpje. Het lijkt wel of investeerders en schoolkinderen WW2 moeten vergeten...tssk.

Ik heb met Schiphol een soort haat-liefde relatie. Ik kan het (diepe gerommel) lawaai op de achtergrond en de kerosine stank haten. Maar blijf heel vaak even staan als er weer een vliegtuig de weg kruist op weg naar de polderbaan. Of toch even kijken op het panorama terras als mijn trein er nog niet is......

before the land was claimed where Schiphol is now a lot of ships crashed at the banks where you see the first signs of the airport appear in the video. Back then they called that part 'Scheepshel' or 'Ship hell' which obviously later transformed to 'Schiphol'.

While LHR is busy comtemplating, when, where, how, etc...should the 3rd runway be built, Amsterdam Schipol airport has 7 runways & we may see this airport expanding further.

Ik heb altijd gedacht dat Schiphol in de gemeente Haarlemmermeer ligt en niet in de gemeente Amsterdam.

Het vliegveld ligt in de gemeente Haarlemmermeer, maar de aandeelhouders zijn de Nederlandse Staat, de gemeenten Amsterdam en Rotterdam, en Aéroports de Paris.

Maar er staat "Onderzoek: Stadsarchief Amsterdam." Dit wekt minstens de suggestie dat het vliegveld (gedeeltelijk) in Amsterdam ligt. Dat niet alleen. Met de naam "Amsterdam Airport Schiphol" wek je ook de indruk dat je je in Amsterdam bevindt wanneer je op dat vliegveld bent. Hoewel ik daar wel begrip voor heb.

The historical overview miraculously leaves out the Nazi bombardment of Schiphol Airforce base in 1940, its repair under the occupation and consecutive use as a Fliegerhorst by the Luftwaffe from where German fighter planes attacked the Allied bomber streams into Germany. It's quite unusual for a historical overview to blank out a remarkable period.

1:23 it went dark, horrific and strange because of the World war II began in 1940. ( and of course there was no constructions building back then ).
