As a person in the Netherlands, I go to amsterdam to see more cultures cuz in my city only Dutch goods are available, but tourists go there to see Dutch culture😂

Loved Amsterdam in 2000 and 2002.❤ l don't remember seeing Stroopwafels but have had the biscuits since. Van Gogh museum a must. Also ice skated outdoors though the artificial ice isn't great. Nowadays you have to book online in advance to visit Anne Frank's House. Glad l saw it in the olden days😅. Look fwd to returning one day😊😊

during broad day the red light district is a completely reasonable place to walk around with family, its very safe and in the center of the city

It has a very distinct feature as the oldest part of the city. The architecture is amazing. If you think Amsterdam is only prostitution and cannabis, maybe Barcelona would be a better place for you to visit.

Both so interesting. However nowadays you have to book online in advance. My son visited in 2019.We just turned up in 2000. Just love the whole inner city and listen to Dutch..Understand a little as l'm half German..😊😅

i liked the Rijksmuseum more but i am also very into history and it catered more towards my interests. plus you get to see some Rembrandt and Vermeer, not just Van Gogh

i live in amsterdam and NEVER buy stroopwafels in a stand up store in the city. there tourist traps €15 for a stroopwafel with chocolate and a few sprinkles? nah uh just buy them in a jumbo or abert hein for €5 with sprinkels and chocolate and you get more stroopwafels!>

Here let me help, You pronounce it as Str- oh -p -waa-fols . And van GOFF (-v as in vet, -a as in pan, -g as in get, -f as in fit) or van GOH (-oh as in no). In fact, most Dutch people pronounce his surname along the lines of vun KHOKH (-v as in vet, -u as in bun, -kh as in Scottish loch) or fun KHOKH (-f as in fit, -u as in bun, -kh as in Scottish loch). Im younger defo. But i do live here the red light district i dont care for whatever get stoned. Why would thte pidgeons on dam be so important they are literally called by dutch people flying rats. And van gogh museum can but rijks is better because its not about one man and just the dutch painting etc.
