Amtrak Auto Train & CSX Freight Locomotives Sanford, FL 8-4-23

I found an excellent location for filming trains! I knew Amtrak had an Auto Train location in Sanford, FL so I decided to go visit even though I didn't have much time to visit! I was able to be at the road and watch them much some passenger cars to and from the train wash up the tracks and talk to a very nice Amtrak employee who answered some of my questions! He told me of the Sunrail Train station around the corner where I can see more trains and he was correct! This will be my new hang out the next time I visit Florida! In the video you will see a couple of Amtrak Dash-8's, P42DC's and a CSX GE CM44AC pulling 4 freight cars up the tracks and dropping them off! Enjoy!

Hello Ronald, Awesome video from Amtrak station. I didn't even know that Amtrak still had Dash 8s in service. Very nice the provision of the passenger cars and the passage of the Amtrak train with the P42 DC, my favorite locomotive. The ride of the CSX freight train with its four freight cars is also great. Thanks Wolfgang! Now I'm excited to go to Florida again because this will be my new hang out spot for rail fanning (plus see my daughter who lives there LOL)! I love those Dash-8's too, I wish USA Trains would make a paint scheme and Dash-8 with those colors too! I never get tired of watching Amtrak trains and their configurations with passenger and auto trains! Take care!

The dash 8s are nowadays mostly used for switching duties alongside Amtrak’s other switchers, but are also used in service sometimes as backup power.
