SO COOL to see #504!!! (3:11). Back when I was in Law School and taking a study day at Marceline, the crew invited me aboard as they were changing. I got to sit in the engineer’s chair for about 30 seconds before they had to get that Q-LANY back up to speed.

There at 9:27, it is something to see rolling stock out there in the wild still having the GN mountain goat herald.

After working with them for around a year now I totally agree, they really like rail fans, Or at least the guys I work with really do

The coal train at Horseshoe Curve needs a couple more power units. Also, since KCS is officially no more, you should do a special tribute grab bag of only KCS catches.

I still don't understand why they don't have ways to switch tracks between the station and the bridge at Fort Madison. As many trains that go through there it would make sense for trains to be able to switch tracks before the station. Of course Amtrak would be the biggest benefactor, but I can also think that long slow freights who suddenly have to switch tracks if one of the tracks is down on the bridge, would make it easier to move traffic. This could also come in handy if Amtrak comes through with two freights heading towards the bridge. They One could switch while Amtrak is sitting at the station, since it seems that Amtrak can sit there for a good long time. I've seen them sit there for 15 minutes or more, with crew changes, equipment issues, and such. If they put a switch between the station and the bridge then the fast train could go through, move to the track Amtrak is on, an then the other train could move through, while the Amtrak waits for new crew to be ready. It would, of course, also save the time that Amtrak needs to back up as far as it does. That also blocks all traffic. Also, I loved that that person waited for the gates to start rising. That's excellent, given all the Darwin awards winners we get on this channel. I, for example, live in a town on the Canada/Chicago CN Main and I never ever cross the tracks till the gates are on the way up, and I mean never. People ask why, but there are several reasons. When there are two tracks, like where I live, anytime is train time. On top of that, as fast as these trains move through, 85 for Amtrak, and 65 for freights, it doesn't take them long to come into view. If someone trips, and hits their head on the ground, you can be knocked unconscious. If you do that with the gates still down, you've had it if a second train comes along
