Now THAT is an epic horn. Wish the older NPCU's would've kept theirs instead of getting swapped for K5LAs.

Actually the F40's were nicknamed "Screamin Thunderboxes". Amtrak's GE P-32 locomotives were called "Pepsi Cans" with their first paint scheme.

Surprised to see an F40 without any ditch lights this late into the 90s. Last time I saw one without was in 96-97?
@paulw.woodring73042 жыл бұрын
Yeah, ditch lights have been required on U. S. Diesel locos in the lead since 1995, so this is not 1999.

Well, it's a bit hard to say, but the horn the E60s wore sound quite like the old-cast P5s (in fact, E60 606 wore a mixed-cast P5A at some point in her life), except that all (save for some later on) wore the unique P01235s, a variation of the old-cast P5, except that it's deeper-sounding. The P5As, however, don't sound that deep, and they have slightly-different notes.

@THEFINALHAZARD4 ай бұрын
Pretty much. The E60 used a P5, with the lower tone bell swapped for their lowest, the 0 bell hence the p01235 designator for the horn and all.

200th Like Also, this is in Port Byron, NY (Town Line Road), not Centerport.
@mdamttc1995 жыл бұрын
Homer 4 you must not be from the area. It is not the village of Port Byron and I don’t know why you feel the need to correct me. The road crossing is called Town Line road because the town lines are on either side. I was on the town of Brutus side, not the town of Mentz side. The railroad location is defined as Centerport and the hamlet of Centerport is the closest settlement to the location. If talking about villages then Weedsport is the closest, not Port Byron. Calling it Port Byron is not only erroneous but confusing with a crossing that actually is in Port Byron further to the west.

Homer 4 you’re more than welcome to think what you like. I’m aware there’s hamlet of Centerport in the town of Mentz and Suffolk County. The DED located a few yards behind where I shot the video also identifies as Centerport NY as that’s the location.
